Not in the mood for mindless games with a bot at this time of night, so will explore the issue on Monday morning. I mean, if you are going to decline the transaction, why bother sending me an OTP (and yes, it was entered correctly).
Because that's the sequence of events. 3D secure is essentially part of the process of you giving your details - the authorisation happens after that. This isn't a Santander thing.

I've not had a single decline with my Edge Credit Card and I've used it online plenty, I suspect you might have caused some problems by using the card so much before it had been 'activated'.

"Well, I was hoping to get away with not activating the card and thus avoiding the £3 monthly fee....."
Presumably if the card is not activated it will fail to work in any and all attempted transactions ?

With the physical card and online, yes. I have been using it perfectly fine via Google Pay prior to activation.

Have spoken to a very pleasant woman at Santander this morning and the reason for its decline would appear that the "card" is not fully activated until I do a chip and PIN transaction, and then it should work perfectly well online, so I will follow that advice.

Phone call was answered very quickly this morning, after using my voice as my password to get through security :+1:

How soon after a transaction does it show that cashback has been earned on that transaction?

Or does it all get added up and paid at the end of the month?

    When your statement is produced.

At which point I would expect that the card goes "live" as far as the £3 fee is concerned - and it will be applied then

Nope. As soon as I did the "activate card" with Sandi last night, the £3 appeared on my transaction feed.

Won't be doing a chip and PIN until tomorrow now.

Chip and PIN is not required to activate the card - that happened when you envoked Sandi.
It won't work contactless until you use Chip and PIN after activation.

This might be of interest to people who got the card recently.  To qualify you have to pay the credit card by direct debit from your edge or edge up current account.

Have a Santander Edge or Edge Up current account? Open a Santander Edge credit card between 21 May and 2 July 2024 and you could get an extra £18 cashback. It's like getting your £3 monthly fee paid for 6 months. You'll need to set up a Direct Debit to qualify. T&Cs apply

I have the Edge credit card - and there is no requirement for me to settle by Direct Debit - I simply pay in by standard  bank transfer from another bank - or an internal transfer from our Santander current account.
I suspect the DD obligation is only a condition for the £18 deal through a cashback site.
Maybe somebody who has opened an Edge CC as above can clarify ?
