I sent the £1250 to my new RBS account this morning, switch completed at 10am, funds in 10:03, await the funds with baited breath tomorrow.

I'm considering moving a couple of DD over to that account for the £5 a month reward account like I have with NatWest, £3 a month just to move a bit of cash monthly isn't too shabby

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

    Bummer  :(

I submitted Natwest application today morning and the account activation is pending.

Applied for RBS select account today afternoon and even though the HooYu checks passed, I've just had this email from RBS:

Your account has not been opened
When you apply for a SELECT account we need to carry out a few checks. Unfortunately, having made those checks we are unable to proceed with opening your account at this stage.

Not sure what I did wrong here. The only thing different I did was to use a different email address for RBS application, used the same mobile number though.

I have not applied for Ulster yet, will probably give it a day or two now
Not sure whether I should appeal as the email says:

You have the option to appeal, but our decision may stand. If you’d like to appeal this decision, please email avureview@natwest.com. We will respond to your email within 5 working days.

Ulster bonus has just landed, after getting the RBS bonus on Friday, after getting the NatWest bonus in September/October last year.

NatWest application submitted at the weekend and due to complete on 13th March, fingers crossed on the triple crown 👑 👑👑

Is the NatWest account the same one as the one you got the bonus on last October or have you opened a new NatWest account?

Please let us know if this succeeds for you, as no one on here (as far as I know) has managed to do this yet and I am pondering giving it a shot.  ;)

I appealed and they over turned the decline.  However you then have to speak to the specialist dept and they take the application over the phone.  It is very long winded but think of the £200.  Also this will involve another credit search.

Thanks!! I will try and appeal then. Just our of interest, which one of the three you had to appeal?

I haven't applied for Ulster yet and am yet to get the account activation from Natwest. It is my RBS application which got rejected.

It was NatWest and my issue was I had a credit card with them and when I applied the form was pre populated and could only put one address in and no provision for a previous address as I had just moved  and that was reason for rejection.

I also had to appeal for RBS. Appeal was upheld. Lost the will to live during the subsequent telephone application process  but figure it might be worth it in the end. Customer service couldn't tell me anything about what had triggered the original rejection.

For those who appealed - What this recent? (I mean after 15th Feb). Did you have to submit the switch details again over the phone? And, did you manage to receive the £200 switch bonus.

Also, did the other two account openings/switches go well for you without a hitch. I still have not applied for Ulster and am not sure whether I should wait for some time.

email change may have triggered the credit check and it just have failed that’s why they rejected
