    I've only tried Ulster.

I'm a tad confused with them tbh.

So they pestered me to do that online ID thing, I did only the photo/selfie thing which went through as accepted, didn't do that upload document/ID thing, kept getting texts to complete online ID.

Very recently got a form to sign & date & post to Ulster, did that last week.

Today I got a text message saying:
Great news your current account is now open. We've posted out your account details. We'll shortly be sending you an email with instructions on how to access Anytime Internet Banking to manage your account.

So how long for the email?, shortly isn't good enough, been a few hours since getting the text message at 3.54pm and still no email 😏🙄🤣.

Then presumably I'll find out about switch etc later on?🤔

Ulster are a bit of an odd one, the paper forms you received, they send those to everyone, there is likely a part on them that says if you've passed on online identity verification then you can disregard the paper forms, and if theyve sent you texts saying that they're opening an account and stiching your old one then you did pass the ID check, so forget the letter. As for the other texts, those are normal texts to keep you in the loop once a new account is opened, so they will send you a card and a PIN separately in the post in the next few days. With the emails, it was about 48-72 hours before I got an email with instructions for Anytime Banking (strange they call it this rather than online banking like everyone else), so once that email has landed (check all your folders) you can set that up and then do the same with the app. And once you've set up Anytime Banking they will send you a card reader in the post as well (I found these a bit of a waste, but I've taken the batteries out of these to use in other things and the devices themselves will go in the electronic recycling next time I'm at the local tip). You don't have to register the card reader, but you have a maximum withdrawal of £750 per day if you don't so after you've left your £1250 in the account for 24+ hours, you'll have to move it back out in two chunks rather than one. Fingers crossed all goes smoothly, sounds like you've had an easier time with Ulster than I did (got the cash though)!
This might seem stupid question but

What do you mean by registering the card reader?.

Have I got to use app/website to increase the limit?
Not a stupid question. When you receive the card reader, log into your online/anytime banking and there will be instructions for setting it up. I didn't bother doing this myself, but I assume it is an extra security step; if your card and card reader are both registered to you then it stops someone from stealing your card and using a random reader to access your account. As I said I didn't bother, just did two withdrawals of the £1250, one just after 24 hours was up, and then just after midnight that night.
    ......
In my experience, registering the card reader is just to confirm that the account holder has a card reader and is able to use a reader with a valid debit card for the account.  It does not register a specific card reader so that only that reader can be used to authorize transactions on the account - any equivalent card reader (such as those supplied by Nationwide, Co-op Bank and NatWest/RBS) will work.
Upon receiving my Ulster Bank reader, I noted that it didn't have an ON/OFF button, so I immediately cannibalised it for the CR2032 batteries to replace the failing batteries in my old Nationwide card reader which I've used for my Ulster account for several weeks now.

This is strange, had 2 switch letters from Nationwide, dated a day apart, 1 old branding & 1 new branding, both with different return addresses on the envelopes, reference numbers seem to be the same though
One was a random branch, the other HQ in Swindon, presumably?

This is a weird thing Nationwide do at the moment, they get branches to send out certain post. I think it might be related to that printing company that went bust last year.
