Significant progress made today on the bathroom refit. All furniture removed plus the toilet and towel radiator and sink. The towel radiator was replaced, all new furniture and the sink in, just the toilet tomorrow and then touching up the paintwork in a couple of places and putting up a new towel holder and an expanding mirror for hubby's shaving. I have to say we have been mightily impressed with the furniture. We decided to go for Ik.. which also has a 10 year warranty. It all came very well packed and was easy to put together and seems good quality especially for the money.1

Glad you are pleased with it @uralmaid and always good to have a recommendation.
We have had quite a few items from there over years and always been pleased with quality and price. Though would never have thought of them for bathroom, so will bear it in mind.
Beautiful sunny day, just had long walk in woods and birds were definitely singing more. Looking forward to the warmth of spring.Money SPENDING Expert1 -
Thanks @bluenose1. I spent ages trying to find replacement furniture and decided to go for white instead of the blue we had. A lot of the bathroom and DIY places seem to have the same furniture albeit with different names. You can tell they are all made by the same place. In total the furniture cost us £928 - for a 60cm vanity unit with a deep sink, the tap,an 80cm vanity cupboard with worktop an 80cm wall cabinet and all the handles. The toilet was extra as was the stainless steel radiator - less than £500 for the two. Only addition will be the plumbers time for removing the old units etc and putting in the new ones so will be less than £2k in total and with minimal disruption.
It is lovely and sunny here today although a bit chilly. Noticed this morning that the Long Tailed Tits are back. I love to see them as they are so pretty. I spent £39 on a squirrel proof nut feeder last week as the pesky squirrels were constantly raiding my nut feeder and touch wood - so far it is working. Can't wait for Spring.3 -
That sounds really nice @uralmaid and a great price. Like having a brand new bathroom at a fraction of normal cost.
Weather not as nice today, very windy and cold. Though had lovely 3.5 mile walk then this afternoon went to Pavers shoe shop in Southport to collect black boots I thought I had ordered. Turns out I had ordered navy in error. Though really nice Shop assistant found black pair in shop and even better they had extra 20% off.
Hope the squirrels have not found a way to get to your nut feeder.Off to my second funeral in less than a week tomorrow, counting my blessings.Money SPENDING Expert1 -
@bluenose1 - good news after all with your boots. So far the squirrel isn't winning. Sorry to hear about the funerals. It's a horrible start to a new year. Here the weather has been a bit on the chilly side plus strong wind and rain today. Finally had an email to say the potting shed I ordered back at the end of September is due to be delivered on Tuesday. We shall see - the service from the company so far has not been good. I went online to look at reviews and there a lot of bad ones so I am wishing I hadn't ordered from them.1

Organgrinder said:Accidents often seem to happen in slow motion - I remember getting run over at a busy junction in Bangkok. I was crossing the street when three mopeds came around the corner and I was caught halfway across the street. One of them hit me and I flew through the air very slowly (or so it seemed). It's amazing what the brain can do at times. I was all set to hit the ground with a thud when I thought "relax" and I landed without too much bruising before beating a swift exit and hailing a taxi to my hotel!!
It's been a long time, but as a youngster I was in a few bad car crashes. Mostly other people driving.
There is something very very strange about knowing what is going to happen, seeing it in slow motion, after someone has done something reckless, but being powerless to do anything about it, other than sit and wait......2 -
Gosh @uralmaid and @louby40 I go away for a couple of weeks and you have had a new kitchen and bathroom fitted. Both of which are money well spent.
Sorry to read about the funerals @bluenose1. As @uralmaid say's not a good way to start the new year.
Nice to read a good customer service story (rare these days), and the extra discount on the boots was an additional bonus.1 -
@Humbolt I too hope you had a great time.
Our kitchen is nearly done. Floor to go down tomorrow, kick boards and new skirting boards. It's been a long week living with no kitchen but it's nearly done now.
The tiler comes on Monday. Then I need to take stock a bit and work on my savings again. Can't wait to get it all clean and start filling the cupboards again. I've bought new bits and pieces, kettle etc.2
