It's a nightmare @bluenose1. Decided to just go for white. My current one was a deep blue but the paint was peeling after only a couple of years. All the fittings and the radiator had rusted too. Finally got the ventilation improved so that should help but was loathe to get a colour and have the same thing happen again. Hope you get yours sorted soon.0

uralmaid said:New year, new things to get done. Today I was over excited. Last year my daughter gave me an Amaryllis in Wax. After it had finished flowering I duly followed the instructions and kept hoping to see new signs of life, but nothing. Today I decided it had had long enough to perform and was going to banish it to the polutunnel. Lo and behod a new leaf has suddenly appeared so it has had a reprieve.
We need to source a new towel radiator the same size with fixings in the same place as the current one. We had the upstairs bathroom refitted 2 years ago and the radiator has completely rusted . I wouldn't care but it wasn't a cheap one. Also the bathroom furniture is going to be replaced as the dark blue finish on it is starting to peel. We paid quite a lot of money for it but not up to the job. The problem is that whatever bathroom sites you look at, they all have what are obviously the same units, albeit with different names. Have ended up choosing some from Ikea which are cheaper and have a 10 year guarantee so we shall see. Also we have been trying to source a replacement wc. All the modern ones seem to have an insubstantial flush.
On Monday I am going to contact the company I have ordered my potting shed from too. We ordered on 26th October and it still shows as being in the "making" stage. The delivery was supposed to be 5-6 weeks. I rang them 2 weeks before Xmas and they assured me it was coming the week after - but no sign of it.
I also am now looking to book a holiday cottage in Inverness area for June. We booked a cottage for May to Dumfries and Galloway intending to go up on the new motorcycle and tour around. Then my B in L said he wanted to come for a couple of days so we could visit relatives in Dumfries. Then my niece deided she wants to come too so there will be virtually no time for touring around so we will probably go in the car. Best laid plans and all that. Oh well - onwards and upwards - watch this space.
We've almost finished putting in a new shower room as a DIY project, and we're very pleased with it. We got a relatively modest Ideal Standard rimless toilet and I'm impressed with the flush, its certainly better than our other old style one, despite having a smaller tank.
We don't have a water meter, and I do have a tendency to push both buttons at once, just to make sure I get best value!1 -
@Nebulous2 - we have ordered an Ideal Standard wc too.2

Well it has been a chilly old weekend. Spent some time working on our Steampunk pirate outfits for later in the year. Hubbys coat now has black lace ruffles on the sleeves and my pirate hat is coming along well. Yes - I know we are in our 60's and still have a dressing up box but it has to be done! Keep adding things to it. Don't yet know what our second outfits will be. So once a decision is made they will have to be sourced and worked on.
Now looking forward to the coming week and the arrival of replacement furniture, towel rail and wc for the upstairs bathroom. My lovely plumber is on standby to come and swap everything as soon as it all has arrived. Needs to be done in January as we have visitors for 2 weekends in February and don't want to have to all share the same bathroom.6 -
One of the best things (maybe the only one) about modern houses, is they have more than one bathroom!
I wonder how we ever coped!0 -
Our house is part modern and part old. The main body of the house is 1980's and what we call the "East Wing" is 1800's.1

Haha - hardly. Our previous home had 3 acres and now we only have one - so definitely come down the ladder.0

I admit I do have a penchant for antique furniture and am partial to a glass of Perrier Jouet though.0
