Morning all,Thanks for concern, my brother was fine when I picked him up late yesterday afternoon, but is unsurprisingly feeling tired today. He says he doesn't need anything, and will spend the day resting, so I guess I have the day off. He has food he can just eat, or warm in the microwave if he wants. I need to pick him up before 8am tomorrow to trundle to the hospital again for a scan, but hopefully that won't take too long.I have listed a chair free to collect on FB marketplace so it would be good if that were to go soonish, as it is in the way. Another, smaller chair, which I am selling, is supposed to be going tonight, and the boxes of random tat that I put out on the garden wall free to collect are emptying, so decluttering is going well. The local hospice shop are picking up a large furniture item tomorrow, and then I can get the sitting room properly organised. Looking forward to it.I need to sort out the fridge and deal with whatever needs using or freezing, and will cook a chicken for dinner tonight and beyond. Not a NSD, as we bought fuel for the car, needed due to multiple hospital trips, and popped into the garden centre while out, where I bought some rosemary plants to put by the wall in the front garden, and some seed potatoes, which were planned spends.Grateful that my brother is ok-ish, for a day to myself and getting rid of unwanted clutter.PS, @Toni'sfriend you are certainly not me me me! You have had a lot to cope with. Be as kind to yourself as you are to others xx11

I went to grandma's house to wait for the Estate Agent. Made a start on the kitchen, emptying jars of spices into a small bag and then putting rinsed out jars into a rubble sack - there is currently only a black (rubbish bin) so will have to order blue and brown ones but the jars and cans can go in the yard in rubble sacks until they arrive (must remember to take something for collecting paper recycling next time. Started on the large coffee jars (pretty enough to use as storage jars).
The EA valuation was higher than I was hoping for but reasonable, I think. Price for buying my brother out (selling as it is now) was £10K less than the open market but that was try it and see - might not get that price and it could take a while). I did warn the EA that the upstairs bedrooms were 'headache inducing' which he thought was funny but when he got there I heard a little gasp of shock. He understood my situation but asked me to get back to them if we do decide to sell. Niece phoned since I got home and thought the prices were a little low - she can't see much difference with her house which has an attic extension and 2 extra bedrooms. I said that mum had had lots done on it but it was mainly EU Coalfield communities grants and probably about 20 years ago.
Made the mistake of looking in the kitchen cupboards - big big mistake. 2 woks, 2 food mixers, lots of heavy old fashioned stuff which all needs a good scrub (not what I needed). Took 6 bags for life and have brought back 8 bags of clothes, soft toys and some bedding for washing and passing on to the cs. Plus one small bag with cups and a bowl or two. Glassware has been left there and not even thinking about the cupboards full of cooking equipment
I was sneezing before I went and the dust sent it into overdrive. Called a taxi and came home. Checked outside and it's still raining so no room to put the quilt from yesterday outside, so haven't put the next load in. I wrote out a list of items that Curries will accept for recycling (18 including CD/ DVD players, hair stylers and ear buds) so have been setting suitable items to one side (that'll save on waste wizard fees but on the downside I noticed a single mattress underneath the non-broken double bed.About 4 bags started with rubbish in them.
So now I;m back on the bed (just slightly stretching my aching back. Have told DS3 the average rent for that house so he's sulking. He said rent, utilities and council tax were more than he earned so I said he had to count Beloved's income as well (PIP). He tried mortgage calculations and it came in well under the rent. I had to remind him about his buying a house ISA (matures in March) and the expected share of his dad;s estate (less than I hoped for but not to be sneezed at). He said what happens if the mortgage rate goes up and I said it's a 2 bedroom house, that's when you get a lodger. They're already hoping one of their friends will live with them at some point.
I think I need to put a few orders in - I have jotting for various semi-medical items and toilet rolls of course. Going to have some rest time before I try to do more (I have kept my shoes on so I'm committed)
Grateful for the EA being kind and sympathetic (plus he's told me to phone their office for details of reliable trades people), making a start (I haven't gone round the bed to the wardrobes yet - this is just the stuff that was lying about), eyedrops.9 -
Dawn - Even without the treatment travelling and hanging around hospitals for multiple appointments is wearing so it's no surprise that your brother is tired. You'll probably feel the same so take care and look after yourself as well.
Just back from lunch with the lovely cousin. Gorgeous food and she does so cheer me up. She is such a lovely kind person but a wickedly, awful, dark sense of humour. And Himself is pleased. She made him one of her famous clooty dumplings.
No NSDs so far but I'm not too bothered about that so long as we have the money.
Haven't done my exercises today (well have done the breathing ones but they are easier). Will do them before bed. Promise! xxxx
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.11 -
I am glad you have a lovely cousin Tonisfriend. Mine is very precious to me
@grandmanerd I'm not sure how these things work, but it seems like you are doing a lot on behalf of the estate, is it possible to get that factored in somehow? x

As mine is to me, Starlight. We both had brothers so we're kind of like sisters. Lost touch a wee bit at one time but now I don't know what I'd do without her. Although I'm older she's made it her mission in life to make sure I'm OK since I haven't been so well. xxxHave adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.8

We both have brothers but they aren't that much use in most matters we are facing, so we are sisters by choice! It's proved useful to 'swap' cover for our respective parents at times as we have a pretty good grip on their various needs!9

Money spent today, I didn’t intend to go out until Thursday but as I run out of cat litter and coffee it was necessary and I did buy a few other bits but only from my list.Self-care today, morning meditation and exercise was walking round the shops especially the garden centre, I did not buy anything, but I love the feeling and smell of a garden in bloom at this time of year.Starlight & Toni I have a sister but we’re not close and rarely do we agree on anything, I’m lucky to have a friend who is more like sister and we support each other and share the same values, I don’t know what I do without her.Grateful for friendship, unexpected phone call from my son, A good book to read.I love MSE, Thank you to all who share their journey and knowledge to reach their goals and live a good life on a small income.
2025 will be a year of necessary challenges and changes, and closing some doors permanently that don’t serve me or are not in my best interest.11 -
@grandmanerd I am sorry to hear that you have the task of clearing out yet another house. Please take care.

grandmanerd, I do hope that DS3 sees the reality of renting v what you are offering them.Today I am grateful for feeling better, for Pip being at school and having a fair day, for an awesome turkey curry for tea, for spilling a whole mug full of good coffee which meant that I had to knuckle down and clean and tidy my side of the bed - it looks so much better now, and for having more coffee in the pot!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!12
