I wish DS3 and Beloved would help you even a little bit more, @grandmanerd . This is their future you are trying to realise. They need to get with the plan. Wishing you all the luck in the world.Today was a weird day. Started off really well, up a ladder early, windows recaulked, walls painted, jobs getting knocked of the list left, right, and centre, lots of things measured, all looking fantastic, soup made yesterday for an easy lunch, started on the wallpaper stripping, then it all went a bit (*) (*) 's up. Then I ate too many crumpets for one small person. Oh well. NSD achieved though, so maybe on NSD2 (?)Expenses paid (who wanted to be reminded about claiming expenses?) into my bank this morning for work last month.Gratitudes - hm red lentil, coconut, and chilli soup being lush, smashing through my to-do list with a ta-dah!, and for having the motivation to continue with more of the same tomorrow.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Glad you've had s lovely time with your cousin @Toni'sfriend, & that your brother is managing @DawnW, which gave you some time to rest yourself. Pleased you're making progress with things @grandmanerd & your DS is starting to realise what it's like in the big wide world with bills to pay. My DS2 lives in his own little bubble & didn't even know we had people from other ethnic countries living locally now! He's only left the house/garden once since May!!
Had a disrupted sleep, so felt groggy & a little queasy on wakening. My pupil was off today, my patience with the rest of the class wore a little thin! Think the string wind had whipped up their restlessness & inability to listen!
Practiced Norwegian, had a 15 minute power nap, then sewed all evening. Had been looking forward to my Tuesday night off, but forgotten I'll not be sewing Thursday, as taking mum out for her birthday, so thought I'd best sew tonight instead.
Grateful for time to sit still & cut out Chinese dragon masks, a friend telling me how my message of support held her together last week, the new internal doors arriving so we can paint them & start to look a bit smarter!Use it up, wear it out
Make do or do without!
If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours 😃

Hearty laughs at lunch time
Warm welcome from my dog when I came home
Seeing another surprise clump of snowdrops on my morning walk. Beautiful.I enjoyed my morning meditation just now, listened to two as the first one was so good. Now time to get up and get on, later due to working from home for a bit this morning before going in.

Dawn I hope you and your brother haven't had to hang around the hospital for too long this morning and that everything goes well. I'm really impressed by your de-cluttering mission, it's good to have a such a positive project running counterpoint to looking after your brother xx9

Toni'sfriend I'm another one without a sister but am lucky to have the dearest friend who I met at work 40-odd years ago, plus my cousin with whom I have a lot in common - our fathers were identical twins and we are very alike physically too. I know I can always call them for support or laughter and I feel very lucky. So glad you enjoyed lunch with your lovely cousin. Wishing you luck with your exercises! xx

I had an unexpected phone call yesterday evening from a doctor at Step-mum's latest hospital, who wanted to discuss her health generally but more particularly her memory loss and the fact that she now is pretty much non-verbal. I explained that before she fell and broke her hip she'd been able to make her bed, shower and prepare and cook her own meals and the demise of her faculties had only begun after she went into hospital. We touched on other aspects of her health - her heart is leaky and very much that of a 95 year old although her mobility is excellent. It was good to have quite a long chat with him, especially as I had been rung by a nurse yesterday morning saying that S-m was very agitated and trying to escape! I also made it clear that we wanted to get her back to her own home which he was very understanding about. My brother and I will be visiting her this afternoon and taking in a few home comforts for her.12

Just about to head off to the hospital again ... brother must have misread the letter, as instead of a scan taking about an hour, it turned out to be a long drawn out kidney function thing, so I came home again after dropping him off. Still, he was absolutely fine when I picked him up this morning, brighter than he has been for a while. I was slightly dreading how I would find him, but he was ready and waiting at 7.50 am. I don't know when the side effects of chemo / immunotherapy are supposed to kick in, but they very much haven't as yet. He was chatting and laughing while we had coffee at the hospital before his appointment, and even had a bit of colour. In other news, the large wooden chest thing has now been collected by the hospice charity, and the last large item to go (for now at least) is a chair which is supposed to be collected tomorrow morning. The sitting room looks much more spacious now. It is actually quite a big room, but is an awkward shape, with lots of doors / doorways (we removed a set of bifold doors) and a large internal window. Anyway, much improved now, and at low cost.11
