Has anyone made the curries yet? like lamb rogan josh, chicken tikka masala etc, oh my god to die for and im not lying - if anyone wants the recipes then just holler! they are free you just need to count the meat as a b choice,
another firm favourite of mine is pasta dorito crisps???? anyone tried them? totally free on a green day and an excellent alternative to actual doritos. great with salsa dips etc!
Oh sorry forgot to say, ive been going to class since September 07 and ive currently lost 22 1/2 lbsalong way to go yet though!

Welcome to the thread jeanette! I haven't tried those recipes but love curries!!! Would love the recipes if you don't mind. I only have tried one from the magazine last year which was Creamy Prawn curry and it is so lovely I have it about once a week but I think DH is getting fed up of it. I really must buy the curry book, is that where they are from?
Haven't tried the doritos either, I was always a bit suspicious of them for some reason. Are they really nice? It isn't just like eating raw pasta then? Might be willing to give them a go next green day then (which might well be tomorrow) and make some of the free crisps as well and sit and scoff the lot, hee hee. 22.5 lbs is great, way to go!0 -

Yes they are out of the curry book, i have to say i would never go back to a jar or ready meal curry ever! its so nice and i think once you have all the spices that you need, it works out alot cheaper than buying the jar etc.
I need to get the recipes for the curries, for some reason they wont paste on here! ill try again later.
The dorito crisps are soo nice! well i think so,
use dried pasta sheets and part boil them in water (i tend to do 1 sheet at a time to prevent them sticking)
once boiled take them out of the water and allow to cool for a minute so you can handle them, i then use sissors or a knive and cut them in to the same shape as doritos.
get a baking tray - non stick -spray the sheet with fry light then place the crisps on it and spray again with fry light.
bake them in the oven on a medium oven but WATCH THEM! they burn really easily, they puff up and when cooked they go hard! take them out of the oven and allow to cool. then once cool you can sprinkle them with what you like really, ive used salt and pepper, chilli powder, cinnamon, you could use anything that you fancy!
these are great with salsa, the jars of dorito salsa is 1/2 a sin for a table spoon. or you can make your own which would be free to eat as well as the crisps.
they dont taste like pasta, they taste crunchie and crispy and i am a crisp lover! these do me fine at weekends, i make a huge bowl full every saturday.0 -

poodlehorse wrote: »I made up a side dish for dinner and I have since converted it to a snack so thought I would post it here. Basically I bought a red cabbage when I was thinking I should have variety more in the veg we eat. Got it home and shoved it in the fridge until I could think what to do with it. Tonight I had chicken in honey and mustard and swede mash and decided tonight was the night. I shredded the cabbage and and onion and stir fried in frylight, I added 1/4tsp each of cinnamon and nutmeg and a glug of redwine vinegar, once cooked I tossed in a chopped apple and just stirred through to coat with the "dressing" and warm up a bit but I really wouldn't say it was cooked at all. Serve. Now there was a bit left over as I made heaps and DH doesn't really like any cabbage so I decided I would polish it off as a snack so I have just taken what was left and dolloped on some 0% Greek and stirred through, a bit more salt and pepper (as I actually forgot to season earlier) and eating it on its own but it is like a lovely light coleslaw, everything is still crunchy but the onions have lost their rawness and have gone mellow. And it is all a lovely shade of lilac. Bit of an experiment but going to do this again.
Evening poodle, just wanted to say that you could make it as a cookery writer... I am sat here drooling!!! (over cabbage of all things...:rotfl: )

Welcome Harvey and Jeanette
New morning and I didn't deserve my  yesterday  the whole day was fine until after teatime. The kids had the Haribo's out, mum had two to be sociable, then the nacho's came out, mum had 28gr (looked up in book 6.5 syns) then mum got the taste for munchies and I stopped counting
Now, I didn't have many syns most days this week so is it ok to save them all up for the weekend? I sure hope so.
Have a nice Sunday!0 -
Hi to all the newcomers :hello:
Mumoftwo, they say you shouldn't save up your syns as it could encourage binge eating or drinking, it's up to you how you want to do it at the end of the day though.
I saved up a weeks worth of syns for my Birthday last year but ended up with the most horrible stomach ache and had to sit in the toilet for ages, I think it was down to my IBS and because my guts were so used to eating good stuff for so long, needless to say I won't be doing it again in a hurry, lol.Following the Slimming World Plan and Exercising

Oh well, I have learned my lesson.. And I don't feel better for it this morning, and will stick to the good stuff, I have done WW on and off for so long (without result I may add) and saving your points for the weekend.
But it makes sense not to..
so going to eat a nice bowl of 0% fat yoghurt with blueberries, summer fruits now0 -
Free curries on green days:
You can use dried spices and garlic which are free or a tablespoon of curry paste which is 2 syns for 2 portions:
Steam or boil some veg eg potato, cauliflower, carrot
Fry an onion on some frylight, add spices/paste then a tin of chopped tomatoes and a glug of passata, allow to reduce down for a couple of minutes then add the veg (which should be cooked but not soft) then allow the veg to soften in the sauce.
Serve with rice or free chips.
Or fry some mushroom with the onions and add a drained, rinsed can of chickpeas. (Chickpea and cauli is my favourite.)
This meal is free so I usually have a tablespoon of mango chutney or lime pickle with it for a couple of points. (Raita with virtually fat free yoghurt and cucumber is free too.)May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0
