Hello,
According to the body optimise online syn calculator a basic macaroni cheese small ready meal 300g is 15.5 syns on green. Italian restaurant version is 12.5 syns on green and canned is 3 syns on green. These are under the heading unbranded foods.
The number of syns on original doesn´t bear thinking about lol
I know that the Heinz macaroni cheese in a tin used to be free as I had a friend that often had it on SW along with a dash of hot pepper sauce at the side to speed up her metabolism.
Home made macaroni is 11 syns I think. I am sure I discovered that last week to my horror.
There are a lot of mistakes to be made in the first few weeks I think ... I WAS eating the normal alpen bars instead of light so they weren´t free after all. Thanks poodlehorse for pointing that out!
I am inspired by Lillys Mum and have also added weight to my signature. Wanted to put a nice quotation there too but have forgotten it lol !
Does anyone have any good veggie suggestions for snacks on a red day? I´d like to have the odd one to speed up the process but am trying to be semi veggie. I will be eating salmon for dinner tomorrow so thought I would make it a red day.24.06.14 12 st 12 lb (waist 45" at fattest part of belly)

The HEinz MAcaroni cheese and a lot of the tinned pastas actually, used to be free on Green. I think that changed about 2004 when sins became syns and a whole load of stuff changed eg corned beef if lean used to be free on red but now isn't etc. The macaroni cheese definitely isn't as I remember the furore from my group at the time as one woman used to liquidise it for use as a cheese sauce (which I think would count as misuse of ingredients and would never have been truly free then anyway) and was livid. I used to eat a fair amount of them in those days, not because they were nice though but because they were free and I couldn't think of what to cook after work. I used to slug in the tabasco sauce to make them pallatable.
I am off to post my day of woe so stay tuned for another long post0 -
Well I was going to be on a red day, I had a late brekkie as I wasn't hungry to start with and also busy so I had my scan brans and laughing cows with tomatoes. Really filled me up and I still have one to go actually but got fed up. Busy at lunchtime and still not hungry so only had a yoghurt, decided to have my alpen light mid afternoon with a cuppa. Was planning a steak for dinner when late afternoon our workmen managed to put a nail gun through a pipe:mad: . So the water is turned off until it can be fixed, hence I can't boil veggies or pasta or potatoes etc, IF I had had a washed potato could have baked it but I get mine from the farmshop. SO thankfully I had had a neutral day thus far so it has turned green so that I could eat beans on toast (so the Alpen Light is becoming syns so I can have my two slices, synning the butter.) I am off to check online that Heinz spaghetti hoops are still free as I haven't eaten them in so long I can't remember but I gave DS them and I ate the rest of the tin he didn't eat as I was still hungry. I really wanted that steak too. Oh well there is tomorrow. Just hope someone comes soon to fix the pipe as... ahem.. the scan brans are doing their thing:o ! And I have nothing I can drink in the house except pure fruit juice, milk or slimline tonic so I will get fed up of the latter fast and the rest are all synned although I still have a HEA left. What a disaster. The plumber had only just left an hour before too and can't be got on the phone so the head joiner is going to come back and fix it tonight, let us hope he a) knows what he is doing and b) doesn't forget. I [strike]wanted[/strike] needed an early night too so was planning to go to bed at 9pm as I will need to be up early as usual to let them in tomorrow. This sodding extension is CURSED. Silver lining I am still on plan, just:rolleyes:0

yup just confirming that it was correct and up to date info, and pointing out the OP might not have the most upto date book0 -
ahh what a shame poodlehorse, what a day you've had. Well done for rescueing it so well. Hopefully your plumbing will be sorted soon. You have done so well adapting, don't think I would have been able to do that..0

Well it is fixed apparently, and it wasn't actually the nail gun like I had been told but actually he just kicked a T piece. Joiner came and then realised it had cracked the main pipe too so had to go back and get more bits so he isn't long gone. Not what he needed at the end of a long day I am sure. But we now have water so I am off to fill the kettle just in case anything happens again LOL. STill munchie but don't know what to have, going to have to have a scan bran and LC before bed though so might just stick a bit of spring onion on top for added crunch, used up the remaining syns I had on a piece of choc as it was that or alcohol. I reckoned it was worth it.
Off to bed really soon after that, g'night all0 -
Night poodlehorse.
I have just been looking on Ebay and cannot believe how much people are selling their books for.
There is a 2007 food directory selling for £15, it only costs £6.95 from your consultant.
I know not everyone goes to a class but that is alot of money to pay for 1 book.0 -
Well I don't think jamtart's got the most up to date book...and she is gutted
i have "Free Branded foods 5"
My syns are now completely to pot! I'm so confused. I don't think I can't do this diet!!!
:ABeing Thrifty Gifty again this year:A

oops! the one I just bought for £7 on ebay was for July 2007 starter pack, Does that mean it's way out of date then? Surely they don't change that much. Jamtart if you follow what you have it should be ok, that was what was used at the time and people lost weight.. Don't give up just yet. I am confused too but that is because I don't have the books yet. I thought I had done great today until I just worked it all out:
The 2 slices of white bread had to be syns - 8
had maple syrup in yoghurt - 2
kids had asda extra special chipolatas, I had 3 - worked out as 10 1/2 syns
thought I might get away with them being HE b but know that is cheating..
Green day not as easy as I thought.. Tomorrow is another day, bought wholemeal today..0
