thanks lillys mum!! i will double check that and thanks for the tip with the crunchy bran missmasseffect!
is one slice of bread one healthy B or is it two slices of bread for one healthy B? I'll try and eat more of my meals from free food when i get the hang of it again

Lilysmum is right about the tinned fruit, it is either a HEB or synned. FResh and frozen are all free though so long as you don't cook it or puree it.
As for the bread my book is AWOL but depending on brand it can be anything from 1-3 slices for a HEB, I am a bit naughty here and just assume that the standard wholemeal thinslice that I buy is 2 as where I can shop I have limited choices. I do always buy thincut and wholemeal though (it is my small effort at being good).
Hostie just double checking you mentioned 2 Alpen bars are great as a HEB, making sure you know that it is Alpen LIGHTs not the ordinary ones. Sure you do but just in case. They are my new found fave HEB at the moment since I like to sit down in the afternoon with Diagnosis Murder and a cup of tea and my choc/orange Alpen light. Bliss.0 -

Sorry just read to the end of your post.
A typical days food for me is as follows:
2 weetabix with skimmed milk (or oatabix) The weetabix and milk (from your HEA) would be fine, the oatibix I think is a HEB plus some syns...I think. But you wouldn't have to really change a thing for brekkie:T
lunch 3 or 4 slices of granary bread, butter (my downfall) and cottage cheese or sardines. You might have to cut down on the bread a bit to make it a HEB or you could swap to Ryvita or Scan brans instead (you get 5 SB for a HEB), if you choose virtually fat free cottage cheese it will be free on both days, and the sardines will be free on Red (if not in oil), Not much change for lunch and you could add in fruit or yoghurts too:T
Evening meal, usually loads of veg, potatoes are a must have and meat or salmon which I love poached. The veg will be free (so fill your boots) on green and mostly on red (except peas and sweetcorn) so you can choose either day and syn either the potatoes or the salmon/meat. Not much of a change there then:T
very rarely have ready meals.
Snacks during the day if anything will be fruit - dont eat after my evening meal at all.
That is about it, I don't each biscuits, cakes, sweets or chocolates.
Do like my tea with 2 sugars though !!!Okay so either switch to AS (free) or just count your syns or um wean yourself off the sugar I guess. There are some natural alternatives to sugar which are lower in calories although would still need to be synned. A few of us on here aren't keen in AS. Depends how many teas a day you have I guess.
Hope you can give me an idea or 2
I am so pleased you have decided to join, I am quite passionate about it and would hate anyone to be put off by thinking it was going to be faffy, it really isn't, well okay faffier than being able to eat what you like but nowhere near as faffy as any other diet I have looked at. It does look like your normal diet will be easy to fit around SW though. By the way as I am about to press post can I just say that it has taken me about [STRIKE]an hour and a half [/STRIKE] well okay slight exaggeration 3/4 hour to post this as I keep getting interrupted so apologies now if someone has already said all this:rotfl:0 -
Just a quickie
Does sleep have anything to do with weight loss?
I am really struggling to sleep at the moment, and have been for the past few months.
My OH is in Iraq and has been since Nov, I am very busy with 3 kiddies (9, 6 and 2). 2 yr old has been terrible at sleeping since daddy went away so wakes several times a night.
I am very tired but just can't get to sleep - I went to bed last night at 10pm and it was 12.45am the last time I looked at the clock so I probably fell asleep just before 1am. Little one woke up at 3.30am and it took me over an hour to get back to sleep again. Alarm then goes off at 7am to get the kids ready for school
So all in all I think I get about 4-5hrs sleep per night, I don't understand why I can't sleep as I am so tired I could fall asleep typing this but I can't as I have my 2 yr old to look after.
Sorry that probably wasn't very quick but I would appreciate any thoughts.
Weigh in tonight at 7pm

Hi Lilys Mum,
That sounds awful! I don´t know if it has an effect on weight loss but it could have as I know your body is busy doing things (re-lining stomach etc) when you are asleep. I don´t really know what to suggest as I am a big sleeper. Maybe someone with kids can give you a tip or two.
Nessa - I just wanted to check that you have all the information you need. I could pass on the pdfs that ananci69 sent to me. They have all the information. I subsequently joined online and was able to download newer versions I think but I wouldn´t recommend the online membership it really is a rip off and the software is IMO very poor.
Let me know if you (or anyone) would like me to pass on ananci's good will and send info to you.24.06.14 12 st 12 lb (waist 45" at fattest part of belly)

Hi Folks
Getting weighed tonight, fingers crossed ive only gained a small amout if any. Had a hard week this week. My sweet tooth got the better of me.
Talking of low syn biscuits i buy Hi-Fi bars available from my weekly weigh in class, my faves are choc orange or mint, they can be used as a B choice as a healthy extra or 6 syns each, there are other flavours available but i like these two as they have a bit of chocolate on them
My consultant tells us to have 10 syns daily and im sure most people in the class use this amout but i guess if you have more weight to lose your best to take the 15. I try not to use my syns in one day as you can carry them over and save them up for ie - alchohol or a takeaway meal. Often i save mine for an extra special choc bar (can you tell im a chocoholic)
This is my 2nd time at slimming world, i lost over 2 n half stone first time but unfortunatly gained it all plus extra. I am determined this time im gonna do it, i joined 22 Oct and so far have lost 1st 10lb which i have found relitivly easy, i even managed to stay the same over Xmas and lose half a lb at New Year :T tho not sure what tonight has in store for me haha.
I think its great we can all chat together n give tips and advice.
My tips are buy the slimming world magazine, its full of great recipes, it also give you new updates on healthy extras as they add new things all the time. My fave at the mo are Ryvita minis - chees n chive flavour. I cooked a few of the recipes from the mag and can highly recommeed the chicked tikka masala and luxury shepherds pie which i made for my other half and 2 kids they both loved it and thot it was better than the frozen or jar of sauce version.
Gawd i can blether eh !!!!!!!!!!! Off to do some :j haha see if i can burn off some calories:money:0 -
Hiya, is it ok if i join??? Just spotted the thread. I am off to wiegh in tonight at SW. Dreading it as i missed last weeks as we were away. Really gone off the rails recently so need all the support i can get to get back on track!!!!
Lilly's Mum - i know how you feel. I was all set to really be good today, but i was still awake at 1.50am when my 8 month old woke for a feed. Then still awake when his dad got back from work at 2.30am. Then little one started crying (think he is teething) and didn't settle until after 5am. No idea what time i finally passed out, but was awake at 8am feeling like death warmed up!!!!! All my good intentions went out the window when i barely managed to put 2 slices of bread in the toaster and then buckled and had butter on them.
I think if you are tired it can affect your energy levels so you just have less will power and need quick fixes. What's he building in there???
