Thanks for the tip about the brazil nuts Nessa. I will definately keep that in mind but I might have to wait until I get my syns under control as I have just checked and it looks like a shelled brazil nut is 1 syn on red or green while 28g are nine and a half syns : (
Anyway it is a very good tip and I might have to risk the syns as I was a bit down over Christmas, turning a corner now and feel more optimistic.
I think it was skint cat that said about the sweetener causing depression. I have also heard that aspartamine causes brain tumours as it is synthetic and unlike sugar your body doesn´t process it.
I just wanted to add to what poodlehorse said about SW not necessarily meaning loads of cooking. I often just have a slice of nimble with beans for lunch and then veg with the tiniest bit of fish for dinner (I´m doing green days so the fish that you can have is minute. Somehow it is enough though as you can have potatoes on green days).
Hope you are all having a good day : )
I am having a much easier time since I discovered I could have 2 alpen bars instead of biscuits. As the resident chocoholic I have stocked up on the chocolate ones and hopefully that will really keep my syns down lol.24.06.14 12 st 12 lb (waist 45" at fattest part of belly)

Hostie I don't know if you have a Home Bargain shop near you but they sell the Alpen Lights at a greatly reduced price about 69p I think. I have been buying snack a jack plain popcorn in HB for 10p per pack and only 3 syns.
I am on an original day today and I have just snacked on celery sticks wrapped in lean ham. I am more of a savoury person but if I feel like something sweet then I mix an opitions [2 syns] with plain yoghurt.

Ive been going regularly to slimming world since end of october. So far ive lost 1stone 10lb, got a long way to go but it deffo is the best plan for me simply because i love my food
Great idea having a forum so we can all exchange ideas and tips :j:money:0 -
Hello you lot! Found you by typing "syn calculator" into google!! I'm a forum regular as you can see, and a member of "Murphy the Cat's No More Pies thread" in the Moneysaving Arms.
I lost 2 stone on slimming world 7 years ago, kept it off, and lost about another half stone by healthy eating. Since then my weight has fluctuated up and down by half a stone, when I get to 10st7, I quickly stop eating rubbish and lose a bit more, but can never get below 10st and stay there. Anyway, went up to 10st12 about 2 years ago, joined weight watchers and just went up and down, and got to 9st12 ONCE and was so happy, I ate like a horse and put it back on.
Anyway, I'm 10st2 now which isn't bad, but just want to lose about half a stone and get toned up, so I've nabbed the SW books from a friend (ive been put off SW as I dont think its as healthy as WW, but I've now changed my tune, as WW is just calorie counting) and I want to start afresh tomorrow. I also have IBS so trying to deal with that and eat the right foods is essential for me. I also want to do more exercise....
So... wish me luck for tomorrow's start and hopefully I'll be a regular on this thread if you'll have me!!
:ABeing Thrifty Gifty again this year:A
