Just a quick question on how the healthy extra's work:

I can have three to four is that correct? Three ideally I think. So on the green days that would be milk, two slices of wholemeal bread and some bran flakes at night. I have been having these things every day but also 28g of cheese. Am I allowed the cheese? ...

Hostie I think that provided you are using the bread from 400g loaves of wholemeal you will be ok. I generally use my second healthy choice a) as an oz of cheese. That way I can have my mash potatopie at any time on a green day.

I am struggling at the moment. I have lost about a stone at slimming world and my body has become comfortable at the weight I am now which is 9 stone 11 pounds. Ideally I could lose another 7lbs but I am losing the will. I agree slimming world is the best eating plan etc, but after a while, if you have a prediliction to comfort eating - no amount of quark, fromage frais etc will hit the spot. I am talking chocolate and lots of it!!!!!!!!

I am forcing myself to attend group weekly but my weight has defintely plateaued (sp) and hearing all the new members losing 5-7 lbs can be a bit disheartening.

I am with the group of half a pound on, half a pound off, maintain, gain, half a pound off, half a pound on and so it goes,

Hopefully spring will bring a revived spirit along with it. Whatever happens though I am going to keep going as otherwise its carte blanche to put it all on again. At least this way, I am eating well 90% of the time!

So I shall be using this thread as a kind of diary. I know the plan inside out and have all the recipe books etc. Good luck to all you Slimming World babies out there.

Hi SW gang...I too am a SW member, at target, well 2 lb over at moment...I've lost 2 stone 5 pounds.
Does anyone know the SYN value for Mug Shots, they are those pasta/noodle things a bit like a mini pot noodle crossed with a cuppa soup.
I have been on the SW site, but I can't find them although I always have fun and games with it.
I'm sure I was told once in class that they were free or at least some were.
    Thanks.

That is fantastic - well done you! How different do you feel after such a dramatic loss? Has your confidence changed much? Do people treat you differently or do you treat yourself differently? Please let us know how it feels from the 'inside'!

I really needed to hear that as yesterday was not a good day - I wasn't feeling particularly well and managed to scoff a pasty AND a belgian bun.:o Blimey - I almost wanted to delete that then and not tell your all!!! :D

Also I have been doing a work out video but yesterday morning i didnt do the warm up and hurt an old knee injury.

So, today is a new day, I am focused once again and am going to stick to free & HE's only today (and maybe tomorrow too) (But no promises!)

Have a great weekend y'all xx

  • If its any consolation I had a bad day yesterday too. DS and I have colds, DH was flying home and I was on a red day. All went well until I made dinner for DS and I was going to have mine later. Unfortunately he refused to eat it and it looked gorgeous so I ate it, and it would have been 0 syns on green but goodness knows what it would have been on my red day. So I never had my own dinner. Had already used all my HEs and syns though so couldn't even mix2match or whatever they call it. Grrrr. Today I feel like poo and there is no shopping in and we are really busy tiling the bathroom floor so goodness knows how it will go. We all have bad days but stick in there Miss P.

As for the xylitol, I haven't had to use any yet so I haven't had to look it up online. It might have to go through the syns calculator. It is 60% of the cals of sugar though
  • Hi there, I have been doing SW for 9 weeks now, and loving every minute of it. I've lost 9lbs so far, inc. a Xmas gain of 6.5lbs ouch! Maintained this week :(

I never thought of looking to see if there were other SWers on here, came to find out some ideas for cheap meals that I can adapt if needed to SW.

Some may know me from Ivillage SW boards, or http://slimmingworldforum.forumotion.com/index.htm where I get most of my recipes from, also the support which goes without saying.

Looking forward to getting to know you all!
Going to go back to start of this thread and read it all now :rotfl:
  • ok had a quick scan through, and would like to comment on some recurring themes..

Can you really eat all that and lose weight??

YES!!! They wouldn't recommend it otherwise, people wouldn't continue with SW, and they would get a bad name LOL

Seriously, if you go to the SW website and read the pyschology of how food optimising works, you'll understand why you can eat lots and still lose weight. It's all about how full things make you feel. Pasta is free on green for instance as you couldn't realistically eat more than your normal plateful without bursting anyway!

Next Q - HE in recipes.

I always find recipes that seem to use your one HEA of cheese as an example, then the recipe says serves 4 people.. which is madness as you have to have a full HEA and 2 full HEB choices per day. I tweak recipes, I cook for me and my Husband, and if it says 1 HEA of cheese, I add in one PER PERSON, so I know that I am getting my full HEA as SW intends you to.

    Plateauing.

I am way off needing to worry about this lol, but I would think that it's all too easy to get into a food rut and this may be hindering your progress. When I plateau I will jig things up a little, changing the way I eat ( reds/greens/m2m etc) and also jigging the he's and having something different. Also trying new recipes and fruits etc I am sure will help.
  • Cant Beleive I have just found this thread on MSE. Brilliant . My chum on MSE tried to start a Slimming World thread and a Moderator moved it to the Lse Weight Thread. But W.W and R. Conley and S.World are all different, even if they all work. I went to slimming world last year but left in November. I did lose 10 pounds and have put a few pounds on but want to get back into it again. Maybe just using the books I have and this site of course. Going to read through all the threads and see what i can pick up.
Hello to everyone and Good luck with the weight loss.
  • Hi to new meembers, Trixiebelle I hadn't heard of that SW forum so I have just joined and will have a good nose through it. Thanks for that. I am way off worrying about plateauing too. I have heard it is often when people don't weight their HE once they get more confident and guestimate and I have also heard that having lots of speed and superspeed foods for a few days jsut to push you over the plateau can be useful. I am on green today and haven't had time to do a shop so the cupboards are distinctly bare. I need to go look for inspiration.
