poodlehorse wrote: »ok quick question re the recipes in the site larmy posted. Quite often she adds a HE to the whole dish but a portion of the dish she says would be 1/4 HE. Are you supposed to do this? I always thought you couldn't mix and match your HEs like this that you had to have the whole thing or syn it.
You know I think that confused emoticon should be my avatar, I am always confused:D
I haven't got a mag at hand to check, but I always thought that a recipe for 4 gave the HE and syns per portion. So for example it would be four pieces of chicken (or fish or baked potatoes) all weighed, which would be 4 x 1HE. IYSWIM0 -
Can anyone suggest a really quick family evening meal I can use to replace my Wednesday pizza meal where we have to cook, eat and be out of the house in little over 30 mins!!!! I know - I hate wednesday!0

I will have been following Slimming World for a year next month and I have managed to lose four and a half stone so far, although that is with exercising at times too.
I follow it myself at home without the help of a group, I got a Food Optimising book and starter pack (which is an obsolute must have in the beginning) so I can't give any advice on what going to group is like.
It can be a bit confusing when you first start, what with the Green Days, Red Days, Healthy Extra's and Syns but it does turn into second nature after a while when you've learnt how it all works.
I would say that SW is great if you like cooking things from scratch and it often means you use less "syns" (naughty food/ingredients) if you do too.
I don't like Mullerlights so I don't eat them, I make my own yoghurt using EasiYo, I have the plain Greek one which doesn't have any sweeteners in.
I don't eat Cheese or Bread often as I find they make my weight loss slower, but I can't see any reason why you couldn't make your own bread, although you'd have to make sure it was Wholemeal for it to count as a Healthy Extra (or you could use syns for it).
On SW you can have full fat versions of things, such as Cheese, but you would have to have a smaller amount than low fat versions.
If you have any more questions fire away and I will try to answer themFollowing the Slimming World Plan and Exercising

One idea would be to make a tomato and veg pasta sauce the night before and leave in the fridge.
When you get home, boil a kettle of water rather than a pan, then pour into a pan and add pasta The bows cook quickly, but spaghetti broken in half (to get in the pan quicker) would do. The more water to pasta you have the quicker it will cook as it doesn't have to heat up again.
While pasta is cooking, heat up the sauce.
Serve with some salad.
Or you could cook the whole lot the night before, stir pasta into sauce and put in fridge. Next say just zap it in the microwave.0 -

Thanks jockett that clears that up. Glad I wasn't making it up or I could have been having a whale of a time with my HEs
.
Twinkie - what about just having a syn free pizza. You use mashed potato as the base and just shape it and bake it I think (acording to the recipes in that website posted earlier where she uses Smash but I have definitely heard tell of it with proper potato). You could just make extra potatoes the night before and make your mash and bake your base and then just add the toppings the night you need them. Unless this is what you are already doing and are bored of it and that is why you need an alternative. I just realised I might have picked you up wrong. Well will post this anyway just in case. Where's that emoticon gone? Gottit:rotfl:

Hi SW gang...I too am a SW member, at target, well 2 lb over at moment...I've lost 2 stone 5 pounds.
Does anyone know the SYN value for Mug Shots, they are those pasta/noodle things a bit like a mini pot noodle crossed with a cuppa soup.
I have been on the SW site, but I can't find them although I always have fun and games with it.
I'm sure I was told once in class that they were free or at least some were.
