Slimming World Support Thread

Hi All,
I am returning to Slimming World tonight and making myself to go to group (Mam is going too). I first went to Slimming World when I was 16 (back in 99!) at that time I managed to get from 15st to 12st and was really chuffed with that. Eventually I left group thinking I could do it all on my own. I met my partner around the same time, moved in together and my weight just went up and up and up over the years, I've really struggled with it.
8 years later and a few attempts at other diets (I even started doing Slimming World on my own but failed, think I need the support from group week by week) I am now at the heaviest I have ever been and like I say I am returning to the very group I started at tonight!
I am quite nervous about what Image Therapy entails, I am quite shy and hate talking in front a room full of people..I hope it's not as scary as I imagine it to be.
I will let you know how my first meeting goes when I get back and hope to post lot's in this thread about my weight loss from now on.0 -

Hi
Just thought I would share my tip. I know lots of people think instant mash is foul, but its FREE on green and therefore worth trying to like.
So sometimes I have it for breakfast - yes.
Mix up a one-two person portion (I have twoish being greedy guts) -incidentally you get three sachets with Morrisons Bettabuy Instant Mash for 50p!!!!
You can also fry a couple of Quorn sausages in frylight and then chop them up. Add to mash. Then place half a tin of baked beans (heated up in microwave) on top of the mash and sausages if used. Then top with your healthy a) choice of cheese - I use 1 oz mature cheddar. It is seriously comforting and filling.
I use this recipe when I am in a rush, have no suitable food in - in fact have it for lunch and supper too.
Finish off under the grill.
My ds who is not on slimming world absolutely loves this. Quick and simple.
YUMM! That's made my tum rumble- I'm off to the fridge for quorn sausages!!:T0 -
Just had to share this one with you guys - it is the first SW meal that my fella also wanted to eat and it is the best meal I've had so far!!! It came from an old SW magazine and is a red day jobby...
Luxury Bangers & Hash
Serves 4
1 Onion - chopped
1 Garlic clove - crushed
8 Low fat sausages - chopped (Morrisons 'Eat Smart' low fat ones are free on a red day - Woohoo!)
8 rashers bacon - fat removed & chopped
11oz mushrooms - chopped
6 tomatoes - chopped
4 eggs
Fry onion, garlic, sausages & bacon in fry light for 5-6 mins. Add mushrooms and cook for a further 5-6 mins. then add tomatoes and cook for 3-4 mins. Sprinkle in some chopped fresh corriander or parsley and salt & pepper.
In another pan fry 4 eggs (I poached mine cos they are my fav) divide the meaty hash on 4 plates with an egg on top.
In the mag it says it is 2 points per serving - but if the sausages are free then the entire meal is too! I will edit this when i know for sure.
EDIT; Yep they are indeed free!Piggypoints - 207+£10 * Quidco - £95 * Tesco - 1095 * Sainsbugs - 4237I SHALL be debt free!!!!!:D

Hi, Have just found this board. Started at SW for first time last week and had first WI yesterday - lost 4.5 lbs so really happy. Thank you for all wonderful recipe ideas. Really helpful especially ones that can be used to feed the 2 kids as well. I will not cook 2 separate meals!!!!! DH is having a go with my although not attending classes and is quite pleased with what he is able to eat!! The only thing he is finding hard is eating out with his reps several days each week. Any suggestions? I look forward to reading more on this board to keep me inspired!!0

I found that my DH could just roughly stick to the principles of SW and still lose weight. DH works on a boat for a month at a time so he has no options about what he eats but he tended to stick to red days as there was always bacon and egg for brekkie and meat dishes. So he would sit down to mixed grills and the like and pile his plate high but would only allow himself a very small amount of potatoes etc, loads of veg and snacked on fruit and yoghurt (no idea if it was fat free or not but it would have been cheap LOL). The guys couldn't believe how much he was eating and were so jealous when he kept losing weight too! As he had no control over how things were cooked I don't think he really had syns much as she assumed they were already in the food if you see what I mean and just ate loads of fruit, he also made an effort to eat brekkie so I think that really helped as he is one to skip it. I don't know how he did it either in some ways but he did and I think being a man he could afford 15 syns a day anyway so the odd biscuit here and there wouldn't have made much difference. DH didn't have access to a book to check anything out he just stuck to the principles of it really and it still worked for him so your DH might find the same. Depends where he goes for his meals out I guess but I would think going red would be the safest bet on those days. And if he snacks on loads of superfree foods those days too then that will help with the added syns he might be consuming.0
