Hi I'm thinking of joining Slimming World - read a lot of posts and it seems a lot of people are successful at losing weight but it all seems a bit complicated. How easy is it to get the hang of it? And how much does it cost to attend a class (I need to go to a class for the motivation I think) Thanks

sw is a bit complicated for the first few days but once you have read the book and got to grips with the healthy extras its fine
i really enjoy going and don't really find it a struggle, its £4.50 a session or you can pay upfront for 5 weeks and get the 6th week free, classes are good as it keeps you motivated and also get good ideas from people for recipies

i think i will try success express (prob won't do mix2max as not a big meat eater) do you think i should try a whole week of success express or just 2 or 3 days in the week?

I'd do a week. I think you'll find it easy enough but do make sure you only have superfree foods as snacks. If you need any guidance, just ask.

Tobys_mummy: Sorry I forgot to come back to you about the pasta, but the flour has to be synned. The rule on stewed fruit is the same as juicing - it's too easy to consume too much without the benefit of the chewing and the fibre content.
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

Oh dear, I went out for a drink with a friend last night, ended up getting horribly drunk and I'm still swaying this morning. Syns are through the roof but I'm fine with it and keeping calm, I just have some exta good days to make up for it, plus right now I'm in one of those "I'm never drinking again" moods which will help keep the syns down at least for the next few days.

Does anyone know how many syns are in a whole bottle of red wine (oh yes, a whole bottle) I can only find it out by the glass and my brain can't compute right now.

Also (oh the shame) does anyone know how many syns are in prawn crackers? I've a feeling they probably won't count as one of my HEB. :rotfl:

Hmm don't think I'll be losing 3lbs this week! Now, where's that pint of water...

Skint-catt: thanks its good to know its not just me! its heartbreaking isn't it when you know you've followed the plan and it's not coming off, then you go to class and someones lost 2lb or whatever and they say "i don't know why cos i had loads of chocolate and went out for a chinese" or something.

Angela: yeah that sounds right, when i was off the wagon i was still following the basic SW principles but having extra chocolate and kfc once a week, so it wasn't that much of a change in my eating habits when i went back to class.

i do wonder if i could have 'damaged' my metabolism sometimes though!

thank you consultant31 i think i will try a Success Express week starting from next WI on Weds so i can get an accurate picture of a weeks worth of it. after all, you do get to eat more than on fast forward and i can snack on cherry toms and have loads of salad with my main meals so i think i should be able to do it i hope.

LOL Starjumper, bet your not doing star jumps at the moment are you?
My SWC says there are 30 syns in a full bottle of red. As long as you enjoyed yourself, get back on track today- after your pint of water!!

    Thanks Shanleypink.
Crikey - just totted up my syns for yesterday alone and that is a whopping 69 syns  (thats 122 for the week so far and I've got Mothers' Day to get through too!)

As soon as I can stand up without feeling sick I'll have to do some starjumps!
    More water required first though.

A bit less of this  and a bit more of :j meethinks!

    It's £4.50 for a class or £4.25 for students.

My first week or so when I first started SW I thought I'd never get the hang of it, it seemed so complicated. But then all of a sudden it all just clicked into place and started making sense. So don't wory, even if it's confusing at first, you'll get the hang really quickly :)

Just being nosey really but what is everyone's favourite sw meal, and what do you cook the most. Ive not been doing sw for very long but love cooking the beef stew but my hubby is fed up with it now.

I tried the Spicy Salmon fishcakes last night. I did a low fat yogurt, mint and cucumber sauce with them and served them on rocket salad. Went down great with OH too.
