I had the munchies today. The first time for ages. I had a Mullerice in the fridge from before I started SW. I really fancied it - I thought it had about 6 syns. I was in for a major shock when I checked on the website (after i'd eaten it :o ) and found it had 11syns! Ah well, it filled a hole, and i'm still only at 47.5 syns since Monday. Trouble is I have about 3 more in the fridge, all well within their best before date, and no-one else in the house eats them. I hate throwing out food. My mum might take them off my hands though. Still can't get over 11 syns lol. The 1oz of Wenslydale I had in my risotto at suppertime only had 5.5!

She has been losing weight each week 1-2lb a week (even her first week) which i thought was quite low as she has about 6-7 stone to lose. this is why I am double checking this out for her as she may be unknowingly eating too many syns.

Also this is the same friend who told me about the soup made from tinned tomatoes and beans.......If fruit becomes synned if juiced, is this the same for blended beans???????

we've been told at our class that they are free on a green day as its just pasta and pasta is free on green day.

Yes, all meat, poultry, seafood and fish cooked without added fat (and trimmed of its own fat) is free.

Fast Forward is very restrictive and you have to be very committed to follow it through. It works, but is like the old-fashioned 800-1000 cals a day diet

I'm sure you know what you're doing, but after being on plan for such a long time, I would be almost positive that bad habits have sprung up.

Are you weighing absolutely everything that isn't free food and that what you assume if free, is actually free?
Are you keeping a close eye on your syns - and checking that the syn values haven't changed over the years without you noticing?
Are you having a variety of different foods regularly?
Are you drinking plenty of water (or low sugar fluids)?
Read your Food Optimising book again, it's often surprising what you forget over a period of time.

If none of this helps, before you go for Fast Forward, I'd recommend you have a crack at Mix2Max or Success Express - the change of routine could get your weight loss moving again and in a much pleasanter way than FF (it's truly hard to live with).

    thank you consultant 31

i do sometimes not measure things but i do try and overstimate the syns when i do. will have to invest in some scales...

i think i will try success express (prob won't do mix2max as not a big meat eater) do you think i should try a whole week of success express or just 2 or 3 days in the week?

has anybody else had problems with getting back on the SW wagon and finding the weight isn't coming off as well as the first time?

lady v yes I'm stuck! I lost 3.5stne in 5m last time but in seven months I've lost just under 2stone. I've been doing it the same as ever, in fact probably better this time as I'm doing all my own cooking. Just got to persevere though I had another red day today and was hungry this evening :(

Someone in our class who had re registered having problems too....the answer the consultant gave was that the first time of joining SW, she would have completely changed her diet...this time as she's already been on SW before, it would not have been such a radical change....therefore it will take longer to lose this time x

  • That's exactly the reason, - the juice doesn't fill you up but eating the fruit would. Also of course, eating the fruit gives you fibre which you don't get from the juice.

VLF creme fraiche is sold in Asda and Morrisons near me, so give them a try.

Please don't listen to your friend, the book is not for example only.......it's a definitive list of what you can have for free food, and healthy eaxtras.

Been looking at what other healthy extras i can have and was wondering why are you only allowed some stewed fruits but not all of them?

Also if cooking fruit makes it become synned does freezing things like yoghurt/bananas make them become synned?

Btw did you ever find out about the pasta for me?
  • Hi I'm thinking of joining Slimming World - read a lot of posts and it seems a lot of people are successful at losing weight but it all seems a bit complicated. How easy is it to get the hang of it? And how much does it cost to attend a class (I need to go to a class for the motivation I think) Thanks
