Cool, so i could go to one meeting? Buy the books? Think my mate has a recipe book and a book with red in front and green in back and a folder thing? How much will this cost?
Other post about weekends? I take daughter dancing sat am, son karate afternoon, try and entertain my other half pm, and usually die slowly on as a sunday. I should be like a stick insect but we pick at work, all office are skinny except me and my mate, and they always bring in biscuits, pasties, crsps, you name it, so we have taken to locking our office door, piling desk with fruit etc and willing ourself slim. She only does three days a week at work so is finding it easier than me.
Knowing I have a meal ready to go into out of my slow cooker is really helping thougha s Im not picking while cooking something or getting a takeout, and cant believe how much more regular I am going to the toilet!!
Will have quick look on ebay, might go to one meeting or get my mate to buy me the books(didnt know she could)
  • These are the 2005 versions which is what I was using up until last week, the new books are essentially the same but the format has changed back to the red/green flip books with the syns in the middle. I don't think the syn values have changed and anyway if you stick to one book then you will be fine. I don't see why you couldn't just go and join just for the books it will cost £9.50 I think to join at present (January). BUt you might get a better deal on ebay I suppose. It is a bit naughty what I am suggesting I guess but if it is the only way you can manage... Just don't be surprised if your consulant phones you up LOL. Also I was talking to my consultant about why I left before, basically I moved to an area that at that time had no group and my former consultant just suggested postal membership. She said that if that had been her she would have told me to go buy a good set of scales and send her a cheque every month and she would have continued to offer support via phone. She literally is at the end of a phone whenever you need her and I have no doubt she would have been willing to do a lot more than just take my money. So if you went along and told her you were having trouble attending then I think they should be able to arrange this for you. Your mate could then legitimately order the recipe books or get hifi bars for you without feeling naughty. (I am rather obsessed with the acquisition of HiFi bars as class is the only place you can get them [although they do turn up on ebay] and they are so nice and a great way of filling you up without syns if you use them as a HE B choice.)

  • Thanks for that link minx.

I think its a great idea for you to join to get the books esp as it is half price joining fee this month - have your friend run through the basics with you beforehand so that you can fire any questions at her.
Don't forget that we'll still be here too - and we're free!!

That link just opens a page with sub categories down the side, they show loads of recipes with the syn value on etc. Good site in my opinion.
Watch out meeting here I come. Not really naughty I am still paying just adapting it to my lifestyle which is after all what a diet is about.
  • Miss Phish, did you ever find out the answer to your homemade stock question, I would be interested in that too?
  • Yeah i agree minx - think how many people join a class and then drop out - at least you're still aiming to do the plan and will be touting the values of SW for ever more!!

How much are classes these days? Not that I'm tempted to pay when I can get me encouragement (& weighing) for free with the practice nurse. BUT it's nice to know how much money I'm saving too!

NOT that I'm knocking classes- they ARE great- full of supportive folk in the same boat, falling over themselves to give out hints & tips- just can't afford it
