    Hi miss_phish

    Pasta Quiche

1 pkt pasta and sauce (I use mushroom and wine)
    3 eggs
    chives
    onion
    mushrooms
    leek
    sweetcorn
    large tub cottage cheese

Make pasta and sauce up using milk from allowance
Boil leek and sweetcorn. Fry mushrooms and onion in syn-free spray oil
Beat 3 eggs add chives and cottage cheese. Mix.
In a dish, pour pasta and sauce in and level out, layer on sweetcorn, leek, mushrooms and onion.
Pour on cottage cheese and eggs.
Bake on a low heat for @ 30-40 mins

Don't knock it until you try it. It is gorgeous and very filling

I just want to thank ananci69 for being amazingly kind and sending me squillions of information and recipes. Rarely have I found a compete stranger to be so generous and I am truly touched! It has really motivated me. Now I have everything I need so no excuses lol ! thanks ! :j

Well done Miss Phish and everyone else who has lost weight! :T

In response to the query about whether people lose weight and then go back to their old ways and put it on again I would just like to say that one of the reasons I have chosen slimming world is that you can have unlimited fruit and veg so it must be good for your health. In some weight loss programmes you have to choose between the calories in a banana for example and those in a kit kat. ... (at least that is how I understand it) though I am not putting any weight loss programme down. Different things will work for different people.

  • Does anyone know the syns for Optivita - I love the one with berries - or would this be free on the green day please?
  • I agree totally with hostie about the merits of SW, WW I felt I was looking at points per thing and making unhealthy choices because they were the same points as a piece of fruit and you had to count fruit so it wasn't exactly encouraging the 5 a day thing (unless you just have them all veggies which gets a bit boring after a while) so I left there and never looked back. SW actively encourages healthy eating hence the focus on free fruit and veg and the addition of Healthy Extras which although limited amounts are necessary for health eg Calcium and Fibre. The nutritional research that SW has done is amazing and I used to work with the wife of one of their nutritional boffins, he was a Cambridge PhD with excellent credentials and would not have put his name to just anything, he is now on the payroll of SW although worked for a highly regarded research institute when I knew them. I knew he wrote for some slimming mag or another but not until I joined SW did I find out it was that one, to me that gave SW the gold seal of approval. It is possible to carry on eating processed food on SW and make poor choices but some people will always do that, but you are actively encouraged and educated in healthy eating, active lifestyle and positive thinking. SW really is like no other "diet club". I actually think this debate is for another thread and we should be leaving this one for the people who do believe in SW and want support and advice in following it. Some people have ironwills and will never need SW to lose weight but some do. Some people don't really like food that much and so seem to be able to cut it out easily and live on what I would consider a starvation diet. I have a hearty appetite which is healthily satisfied by food optimising. I have gone off plan occasionally mainly due to pregnancy and this time I allowed myself to forget about it for a few months while we went through a very stressful time, 2007 is not a year I will remember fondly. But I knew that I could get back on plan and shift the few pounds I had gained. This time I plan to stick to it for life, I am planning a new baby this year and I will stick with SW throughout as best I can and so long as my midwife and doctor agrees, not to lose weight but to not do what I did last time and binge in maltesers for 9 months. Cravings are hard to avoid but I know I could have eaten better than I did and SW will help me to put only good things into my body although I will allow myself to indulge of course and I won't use artificial sweetner in that time and wil stick to xylitol (birch sugar so totally natural, 60% the cals of sugar and anticavity!). The only thing I have issue with is the use of artificial sweeteners as I don't like them so I try and avoid them where I can even on the plan, I find that in savoury sauces where a bit of sweetness is needed I can often substitute with balsamic vinegar. Thankfully I don't have a particularly sweet tooth normally so I can avoid or reduce my use of them a fair bit and I avoid certain foods that I can't eat without sugar/sweetener eg Weetabix.
  • Phew that was a bit of a mammoth post wasn't it? Sorry! But I am passionate about SW as I am sure are most of you. I forgot to say the important bit though - 3lb off last night!!!
  • oh nightmare I forgot to pick up the new password last night as I couldn't stay for image therapy (DS was having a moment), anyone willing to PM me it
