  • no i make my own from scratch. i know you can cook it in oil, but i cook mine in plain water. is that allowed or is it still synned?

I will find out for you as I'm afraid I can't answer that one. I suspect it will be synned, but give me a day or two and I'll let you know.
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

The red day plan does not exclude vegetables - in fact you are encouraged to eat as many as possible with ALL your meals, whichever plan you're on. If you start having loads of just meat, not only is it going to cost a fortune, but it sounds as if you may stray towards the Atkins diet, which is nutritionally unsound and not at all what Slimming World is all about.

All fruit is free on both plans, as long as it is eaten fresh or frozen, not mashed, pulped or juiced. This has nothing to do with 'changing the sugars in the fruit' but is solely down to the fact that you can consume far too much fruit without it satisfying your appetite in any way.

Not all veg is free on a red dat though - sweetcorn, parsnips, potatoes, peas for example aren't free on red but are on green.

I try to be really good in the week, but I probably use my syns by having a large glass of wine at night.

However, I do have a bit of a blow out on Saturday night, I have an Indian which uses about 12 syns (I only eat half), but then have a couple of glasses of wine. If it means I am only going to lose weight slowly, then so be it, I am dieting to make myself feel better, not miserable :p
You're only young once, but you can be immature forever :D

I only shop at tesco. that very kind of you too.

I have just had a lightbulb ding on inside my head too.......

I always weigh-in on a saturday my reasoning behind this was, once i've weighed i can eat what i like an i'll have a whole week to lose it again. MAYBE if i start to weigh on a monday i will encourage me to opt for the lower synned and free foods all weekend too.

I know what you mean about dieting to feel better, and at the end of the day it is better to lose it slowly as it is less likely to go back on again.

I need to just get to grips with the sw concept too.

Will PM you trantr81 - we're not allowed to publish.
  • Thanks again Skint_Catt!!
I'm starting SW again after losing the plot a bit over the last few weeks, I had lost 1st 3lb but I have put 1/2 st back on :0(
Tomorrow is another fresh start, going for a green day I think, as it's easy enough to take a jacket potato and beans for work!! Might do a Quorn curry and rice for tea too!! I am 15st now and need to get down to 10st, so I have a way to go yet....hopefully it wont take me too long and I hope I will get lots of support on here from you guys!! It's frustrating that SW doesn't have a forum on the website!!
Good luck to anyone else starting a fresh this week.....let the diet begin!!

trantr - I have a similar amount to lose although I've broken it down into stages! My next target is 5lbs away then 3.5 stone away, then I'll have another 1.5/2 after that - or thereabouts.
