  • Hiya,

I'm joining Slimming World on Tues 8th Jan...tried it before a few years ago but found it confusing to say the least plus in the 1st wk I lost 1lb and the SW consultant said that was no good I should've lost at least 5lbs :(

I had a baby 12 weeks ago and am now 13stone :( and feel that I need to get back into shape and healthy eating (sometimes have no time for breakfast lol)

Dreading starting and getting it wrong...Can anyone tell me if you have to pay for the SW How to shop slim at Asda, Tesco etc? And if so how much? Are they any good or just a money making gimmick?

And does anyone know of any decent electronic scales to get? Or do I not bother with them?

Also should I just keep a daily diary beyond the 4wks that SW suggest?

I'm gonna take it 1 stone at a time....

Thanks for any help and Happy New Year all :D

    Hi all,

Has anyone thouht of doing it on their own?

That is how I managed to lose the weight...... I was focused and organised, had a weigh in time each week, kept a log of my food, exersise and results and have been on the program for 6 years like this.

I do this by getting the magazine each month (with useful tips and articles and recipies) and went to a class once to get the info.

I felt I could do it on my own (with the magazine and friends support) and saving the money on classes for the better food and 'treats' - as it is important to reward yourself!!!

Big tip: Only have a treat when YOU want it and not when others want you to. AND make the treat something you will really enjoy...

I am happy to give recipies, advice, support if anyone wants to contact me...

The most important thing is its a life long change, not a short term program....GOOD LUCK

    hi

I'm starting the SW diet tomorrow, I've got 4st to lose

I have just been on tesco online to do my shop and the muller yog's are 12 for £3, I've just ordered some, also some quorn and tesco meatfree products are on offer too.

    Good luck to everyone x

Just a tip: Tesco's healthy living yogs are just as nice and roughly half the price when m/l's are not on offer!!!

Imagine paying someone to be that rude to you - I'd have walked out!!!!

You must have really good self morale

Did she give you any good advice/help?

My suggestion would be to keep a daily log of food.exersise - and I do mean EVERYTHING you eat. Then you can look at it and see what suits you and what doesn't...

It also helps you look at positives and successes..also don't sweat the little stuff..remember its a long term battle, not a short term fight.....

    Good luck

I am doing slimming world at the moment, but personally feel the need to go to group. It's that accountability and motivation thing, and so me, the money that I spend each week is money well spent.
I know that I could weigh myself etc, and go it alone - but it's the thought of being accountable not only to myself, but someone else at the end of the day. I have lost 1 1/2 stone, and have several stones to go, and so need to keep going to group - I know that if I don't i will fall by the way side.
Have you checked out the I wanna board as there is a thread for anyone losing weight at the mo.

Well first weigh in tonight and...................I stayed the same  .

I was very disappointed as I know I have stuck 100% and not cheated at all, I suppose maybe because I was only weighed on Wednesday (had to change classes) so it was only 5 days not 7 but I would have thought maybe even 1/2 lb would have disappeared.

I was told I probably didn't eat enough!!!!!! I was stuffed every day I couldn't have eaten any more if I tried.

Oh well lets just see what happens in 2 weeks time - can't go next week as I am on a 12hr shift.

Hope everyone else has had a successful week.

A maintain is good!.....I know it is nice to see the scales a bit lighter and you would be really tantrum2.gif if you had put on.

Try not to be disheartened, I often find that I am a week behind with my weight according to what i have eaten. Does that make sense? i.e I may have a bad week, but I lose weight. Then the following week after I have been good, I maintain/put on.

Stick with it and this thread flowerysmile.gif

p.s is there another class you can go to if you can't make your main one?

I would have been pleased with a maintain if it hadn't been my first week as I have really changed what I have been eating and I really felt cheated not to have lost anything.

The only other class is on a wednesday which is the night I take me eldest to brownies so the travel and times don't mix. I will just have to wait the 2 weeks and hope for something positive.

Im joining sw tonight, I too have alot of baby weight (and non baby weight too !), i put on 4 stone in pregnancy, have lost 2 stone since may, but i was overweight to start with.

Ive done ww in my twenties and found it good, but i need an eating plan that fits into family life.

I intend to go to the classes as i need motivation, althought this time im losing weight for me, not because my dad keeps going on about my weight (he still does, but im ready to except responcibility for it now), i want to be a healthy mummy, and do all sorts with my son when hes older as well.

Its good to see so many sucess stories and others in the same boat as me too.

    Thanks for reading

do you think that all these slimming club type things are that good really, are they just temporary fixes over a period of months then you lapse back into being over weight. I think you have to look at your lifestyle and change that. As i said earlier i have lost 3 stones since jan last year, I havn't dieted just changed my eating habits and now do regular exercise. I now have the beginnings of a six pack and i'm 42. I think people go to these classes hoping for a quick fix. Better eating habits and exercise is what i say, paying someone to tell me i'm fat doesnt work for me i'm afraid. your own motivation "should" be enough if your not happy with your shape. Save your weekly fee and buy some fruit or gym membership, you will meet like minded people and they will motivate you too if needed.
