Sorry Charlies mum, I swear by the quorn mince, the whole family eat it as we prefer it to minced beef. Maybe its just not for you.
Thanks for all your birthday wishes, have had a great day, got chocolate cake but didn't want any, and got Thorntons, which I did want and had!!
See you all tomorrow

Thanks Wannabekiwi for your help with the BE fish syn values.
I also think that the quorn mince is much nicer than the real thing, with a few herbs etc it spices up nicely.
Well done to those who have lost this week.:hello:0 -
Hi Charley I have had a few disasters with Quorn mince too. I think the trick is not to treat it like normal mince because it doesn´t need nearly as much cooking. With normal mince I would sort of fry it first and then add the sauce and then cook it. With Quorn you make the sauce, wait for the carrots etc to cook and then put the Quorn mince in at the last minute.
It isn´t the same but it probably isn´t as bad as it was on your first attempt at cooking it. Believe me, I have had a few pots of it go in the bin but recently I seemed to make it fairly palatable! hth24.06.14 12 st 12 lb (waist 45" at fattest part of belly)

Maybe overcooking it was the problem, I did it in the slow cooker for 4 hours
Going into Asda today, at my group on Tuesday they were talking about some Asda meat free meals (meatballs etc) and they are supposed to be really nice, and count as free, so will give them a go.
Celebrated Valentine's day last night with a couple of large glasses of wine, and I'm sure I have put a couple of lbs back on - I have been really good apart from thatYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -

well i'm here today but totally miserable, after having what i thought was a great week i got on the scales to find i'd lost NOT A BEAN. totally pee'd off, and to make matters worse i won the blooming raffle, so got a recipe and all the ingredients to make it, to make and try for next week. spinach and cottage cheese filled canneloni with a sauce made of peppers onions and passastta. made it up last when i got home, whilst crying (i blame the onions) and must admit it doesn't look bad, and its free on green, but i feel like i've been really good for a week, and got no reward. part of me really feels like jacking it all in. i'm wondering if maybe cos i really wanted 2lb off for my stone, i didn't eat enough. but totally p'eed off. cried at home last night and feel like crying now, maybe i'm hormonal or something at the mo, but can anyone please please give me a kick up the bum.
well done everyone who lost, i'm really pleased for you all.0 -
Hi 1601 (hope you don't mind me shortening your name)
I got off to a good start last week with a 4 lb loss, but think I might struggle this week - had a few glasses of wine which because of the glass size I think they count as 12 syns each
Don't get disheartened, if you didn't lose last week, you will probably have a good weight loss next week.
Consider your bum kicked and feel free to do the same to me when I need itYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -
160 I feel your pain, last week when I lost a pound I knew in my heart of hearts that hey it was a loss and should be happy but I had stuck so well to the plan and had really felt it was a great week that to only lose 1lb was crushing. I tried not to let it bother me but when DS birthday came round at the weekend I had said I would go flexi but when I did I have struggled to get back on plan totally and feel I have done the damage now so seem to be self defeating in my attitude. I had to skip WI this week so I don't even know what damage has been done. It is making each day seem a bit of a struggle, not that I am hungry but because I feel if I did well and only lost a pound how bad will it be when I have been wobbly. I am just trying to throw myself into it and max out on Free Foods but I can see my fruit and veg intake has slipped as a result as I have had loads of starchy things on green and on red days I have been having bacon and eggs and using seafood stix as snacks. If I maintain this week it will be a miracle I think. I keep saying I am going to exercise a bit to boost my loss but I haven't done a thing. So let's have a group hug for all of us having a blip in our Positive Mental Attitude and then wipe the slate clean and start again0

Hello, been reading thru the thread and decided I'm going to re-do Slimming World.
Couple of questions I want to make up a fresh fruit salad for packed lunch. Does anyone know of a syn free or low syn sort of juice to put it in. Been flicking thru my food directory and it mentions tesco packs of 3 juices (250ml) orange/lemon/pineapple being 1/2 syn a carton but it's a few years out of date.
Also does anyone know of any syn free or low syn sausages or beefburgers?0 -
Had my 1st weigh in yest, been doing SW since Mon and I lost 1.5lb. Am pleased with that. :j
I'm struggling tho for ideas other than jacket pots/pasta on green days and I've not done an original day yet.
Will print some recipes off today and start cooking!"Nobody made a greater mistake than he who did nothing because he could only do a little." Edmund Burke
