Can you REALLY eat lots of meat etc on red days and lots of rice, pasta and potatoes on green days? If so how do you lose weight when a lot of calories are consumed?

My own experience has been that the protein is self limiting in that you can eat only a certain amount of meat/eggs before feeling very full. Also, a jacket potato with no butter isn't something you want to eat by the wheelbarrow full.:D

Also, everything is cooked very healthfully, little fat, limited milk and cheese and the nature of the diet makes you appreciate those things as healthy extras, not main componants IYKWIM.

I dunno, it just seems to work really well. It hasn't been mega fast for me but I have had plenty of nights out and treats and still lost on a regular basis.

  • Hi all, can't believe I'm posting at this time of the morning but just about to drive halfway across the country to pick up my parnters kiddies (first time i've met them too  ) Good the hear from you guys that have been on it a while!

Penguin - putitng on 3lbs in 3 weeks is utterly amazing bearing in mind it has been xmas (so dont be too had on yourself)

Katiekoo - red days leave me feeling hungry, i guess its cos im addicted to carbs :o Perhaps this time I shall alternate the 2 days to make sure it is more balanced...

Have any of you upped your exercise too? I am planning to join the local canoe club when it reopens in April but really need to find a cheap way of getting in regular exercise.. Guess walking is the cheapest eh?!

    Have a good one

  • I find that I need to have a few red days on the trot to crack the fullness feeling. An average red day would be poached eggs on brown bread, lunch would be a chicken or tuna warm salad or a free veggie curry with runner beans instead of rice. Dinner would be a chop or steak with veggies and new potatoes. I love sugar free jelly, yogurt and fruit too. I find that red days like these really leave me very satisfied and I snack less.

I like green days too, I just feel nibbly quicker and won't lose weight as fast. I deffo have times of the month when only green will do. :o

I hope you horrendously early day goes well!

Oh and to answer the exercise question, I used to be very fit until our local gym closed. Thankfully a new one opens on Jan 1st and I have already signed up. Exercise really makes a difference and when you are on the long-haul in changing your eating habits, exercise allows you the freedom to splurge from time to time.

I'll be flippin' glad when all the crimbo choccy is gone!

Editing for the 27th time to add that my gym costs less than a £1 per day and I go at least 5 times a week when the kids are in school.

  • Blimey, exercising 5 days a week! Ahem, thats putting me to shame just thinking about it!! :o How often/much exercise do SW recommend a week?

I got a text back from my lady and shes (quite understandbly) not working New Years eve so I now start on Saturday.

PS my early start went fine thanks - although I'm probably still a bit wired from all the Pro Plus!!!

I havent been doing any extra exercise - (my horse and kids give me plenty!) purely for the reason it is not something I enjoy and I would like to see how I go doing the amount I am currently at so i dont have to rely on it to aid my weight loss IYSWIM.

  • OK, first group confession - I didn't join the class today because I am thick with cold, feeling jolly sorry for myself and have a house full of tempting food. New start date is Monday 7th Jan.

Now wheres the hankies and mince pies.... :D

    PS happy new year everyone!

Im joining SW on Jan 8th.
I had lost 3 1/2 stones on my own, and kept it off for over a year, but 16lbs has crept on and I hate feeling this lardy.
So SW and more excercise will hopefully help me to regain the goddess feeling!!!
    Ok, in my dreams maybe!!

  • Hi

I'm joining SW on 2nd Jan - I've done the plan before with lots of success, but Christmas hasn't been kind to me (I was 'forced' to eat like a pig through ost of december!)

Green days are my favorites. I'm really looking forward to getting back into it, and eating healthily. There's no better feeing than getting on the scales and seeing a loss :D

Good luck all, will post back after my first class.

Ive got my weigh in tomorrow - not looking forward to it after the christmas break!

I am doing a meal plan for the week today and will stock up the cupboards so I will have no excuses not to eat well!

Good luck everyone for your weigh ins x x
