Morning all.Welcome to the world Emily.
ASB - I think you could be right about Cheyne Walk, maybe no. 35. I would check but I've already donated the book to the little library in the village.
Paid stuff here today so just the dailies. I'm only just back from a walk with Poppet and trying to warm up with a cuppa. My cheeks are tingling with the cold.Spend less now, work less later.8 -
Cold weather here for us, small amount of icy snow has frozen solid so roads are treacherous. Beautiful sunny day tho' with bright blue skies. Our "Dickensian" wood burner stove was doing over-time last night, I was sat opposite it with our kitchen door closed, the fan going full-tilt, an hwb at my back in layers of fleece - the stove was just about staving off the cold, normally it can turn the room into a sauna
Maybe I'll invite a Dickensian "judgementor" / "judgementalist" and have run out of wood
Never mind, the gales and rain are returning with a vengance on Sat & Sun - shrugs shoulders.
I visited London as a tourist for the first time in 2022, age 58. I loved it - we visited the Natural History Museum; the V & A; up the Shard (had a glass of champagne); the Harry Potter experience; Phantom of the Opera and the Buckingham Palace State Rooms. Finished off with a bus tour as we had no energy left to do another thing. Loved the buzz of the city but was ready to come home to our island after 4 days. We spent a lot but enjoyed it soooo much and can't wait to go back. Would love to visit Liberty.
Flying wise: beds made; meds taken; PUPA; WUDUPA; WMx1; HHI; Car Insurance paid; printer almost sorted with generic inks(needs a good nozzle clean); Car de-iced (it's frozen over again); paths gritted.
Welcome to Emily

Welcome to baby Emily - good news, @mumtoomany x
Well done to the @Valli Girl x
Sounds like you're having fun at work, @roundtuit!
Thanks for passing on my message, @Asparklierblonde x
Sorry I haven't been able to post recently - our internet keeps dropping in and out. Yesterday it was so bad that I missed a church council meeting on zoom. I am keeping my fingers crossed that I can finish this post! Customer Services think it might be a problem with the 4yo router, but are sending out an engineer (hopefully with a new router!) because DH also asked about the mysterious 'D' on the telegraph pole outside our house, which BR(i)SK engineers claimed meant "Dangerous - do not climb". We are still on copper wires, not fibre or even wireless ... and we really don't want the telegraph pole falling onto our cars!
Beautiful sunshine here, but way down below freezing. I have just been out to get my hair trimmed by the nice (and not expensive) hairdresser whose salon is below the chiropractors' rooms, and then popped upstairs for a session of the acupuncture which is keeping my shoulder pain bearable - so by no means a no-spend day, but I've managed quite of few of them this month, and all treatment budgeted for.
K helped me clean through most of the house yesterday, so it's just a question of maintaining the tidiness for as long as possible. I was hoping to pass on another pile of books yesterday, but the person collecting them had to change her schedule at short notice, so she's coming next week instead.
DH is out getting his car cleaned! I need to FUPA all the clean washing that is currently disguising the bathroom as Widow Twankey's laundry, but Rosie would like a walk before lunch, so I'll take her up to the little covert (squirrels' playground) while it's about as warm as it will get today.
Stay warm and safe, everyone xxx8 -
Arghh - it's feeling a bit lockdown here - our Amber weather warning has just been extended for another 24 hours.
Snow is just now melting leaving loads of surface water, all ready to freeze again when the sun goes down.
We are a bit stuck in that our road, with loads of cars, is high up but not on the main gritting routes. Buses aren't running either.
Ah well - cupboards are full and plenty of logs for the wood burner, time to start to hunker down again.
Minimal flying has been done - second load of WUDAPA; TDx1 & FUPA.
Stay safe everyone. (((Hugs to all)))

Gritters are out around here all ready.Daily stuff doneI also cleaned the inside of the internal kitchen window to the conservatory, both side, yuk, but all done now.Logs for wood burner are going down a rapid rate in the log shed, 'think' there is enough to the 2nd week of Feb, then I have builders in 'doing' things to the fireplace, so won't be using the wood burner as it will have to be moved out, and then re connected by a qualified hetas bod!.Sausages and mash tonightBreast Cancer Now 100 miles October 2022 100 / 100miles

Hi all
Congratulations on the new arrival Mumtoomany.
Busy day at the paid stuff. Snowy drive into the office this morning, thankfully I am working from home tomorrow.
Paid stuff is getting busy but like Round I would rather have plenty to do. Had a coffee and catch up with my little team this morning which was nice.
I have also had a quick catch up with DS1. Poor DS and GF are really struggling to find a house to rent. There is so much demand for anything half decent.
DH has been on flying duties as he has not been at work. The house is reasonably presentable. Feet up now.

Evening all
@Cloth_of_Gold Yes, thank you for asking xxx, I have my own BP machine at home which I purchased just before Christmas because I was having worrying symptoms. It was on the strength of those readings that I got an early appointment days before Christmas to get things checked out. I started the BP pills on Tuesday morning and some symptoms are already easing (the pulsatile tinnitus). Bloods taken today are to check liver, kidney, cholesterol and diabetes. I don't think I'm a diabetic risk because my BMI is well normal at 22...But I get the results within the next week or so which is good as I have an appointment booked with the surgery Clinical Pharmacist to discuss BP progress on 31 Jan.
Also @Cloth_of_Gold and other Londoners/London visitors. I lived and worked in Harrow, north London, and the surrounding areas in my teenage+ years and would often go up to central London on the tube to shops/theatres for entertainment etc. (as I recall, the grammar school I got into after my 11+ only sold its uniform at John Lewis's on Oxford Street back in the mid 1970s!). My sister still lives in Islington and whenever I visit her I travel into Waterloo and I get the number 73 bus because it's better than the tube, cheaper than a taxi and takes you on a really interesting route. Over Waterloo Bridge, up the Strand and past the Royal Courts of Justice, along Fleet Street, round the back of St Paul's cathedral and then past the Barbican up the Goswell Road to Angel, Islington and Upper Street. It always makes me smile taking that route....
I now live on the south coast and am happy where I am. Although I will be back up to London in late June (health permitting!) for the wedding of one of my nephews in, yep, Islington! I think I'll take the no 73 bus from Waterloo for old times sake...I also remember, as teenagers, we used to take the 142 bus from Harrow to Heathrow to go drink coffee in the Queens Building at LHR and watch the planes take off through the big observation windows of the café. You can't do that anymore!
But I digress into probably too much nostalgia! Flying wise, I did a HHI this morning (need to do another, probably, tomorrow). Assembled a boeuf bourguignon in the slow cooker at lunch time and am just about to make some mash and accompanying veg such as carrots and runner beans. I'm looking forward to it....
I am the leading lady in the movie of my life

Hello all,
Yes, ASB, definitely Cheyne Walk! 35? 32? I can’t remember, but I think Jazee might be right with 35.
Have a lovely time at the exhibition, Valli, that looks so good.
Before I forget - welcome to world, Emily! And congratulations, mumtoomany!
As the daughter of 2 East End parents, we spent many hours negotiating our way across London to visit grandparents. I enjoy a visit to a city, but am always grateful to return to the greenery and relative peace of our village. The shoulders un-tense when the train gets out to the countryside.
Such work-based shenanigans, Round! Mind you, after I thought it couldn’t get more ridiculous, I have had a day to rival an episode of The Office. I’m sick of hearing the twaddle that comes out of the mouths of the new owners and their gophers. But enough of that as it winds me up. And I get to do it all again tomorrow.
Flying wise? DH is out this evening, so I had decidedly non slinky LOs for dinner, have sorted out the clean washing and done HHI. Not a lot, by anyone’s standards, I know.9
