I love the Ivy - the original London restaurant- used to go a lot - best shepherds pie
I am very good with navigation but as pennies say I really look at landmarks (ideally non growing ones!)
plus I travel a lot abroad and tend to live in those cities for a few weeks so have learnt to really eyeball buildings and shops to work out how to get back to the air bbb etc
I have noticed many men are far worse than me at directions - so think it’s a practice thing but a gender oneDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Interestingly PIP Mr Redo navigated by the big knarly tree and other landmarks, although he could work with head North from said tree. If I said take the A50, then the A453 it meant nothing too him, whereas I can only work with road and junction numbers which doesn't work in woods. We eventually realised that I do have a food based recall (the pub where you had X) which amuses me.My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Technically I believe that is the way humans originally navigated. It was all about what the land was used for and how it was relevant to the person.I get asked for directions in foreign countries. So far in New York, Barcelona, Mandelieu la Napoule and Paris. I am very clearly not a native of any of those places4

Yesterday was spent sorting CD's and having a clear out of a few shelves of one of the snug bookcases in the evening. Today I had to be up again to move my car for the roofers, so more clearing done. Space created and a permanent home found for the clean vases that I want to keep.
Today I made pea and ham soup in between cleaning, and then did a 30 minute fitwalk once the roofers left. The soup has settled nicely into a 'one slice or two' thickness and will do lunches for the next couple of days.

I've just checked and you're ahead of me on steps. I might have to wake the dog up and take him out in the dark!2

@greenbee I ended up taking doglet at dusk rather than not go at all but must plan better going forwards rather than stress myself in the dark. Lovely sunset colours though.
@dawnybabes yes DS much prefers it that way and it seems so much more filling.Roofers have final bits to do and will supposedly be here this afternoon, and the joiner to do some more work on the fascia's and guttering so I need to get up and move my car. I could do with heading out to get cat litter. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

We currently walk first thing and lunchtime, as I don't finish work in time for an afternoon/evening walk. And we have lots of quick garden breaks between my meetings where I'm telling him to hurry up and pee as I have to get back to my desk...
Fingers crossed the roofers finish today and the scaffolding can come down. I hate having scaffolding up.
Lovely day outside, so I might try to get a couple of hours in the garden so Stinky can run around (and hopefully not cause too much chaos) before work.4 -
Having scaffolding up IS grim greenbee - I'm with you, and particularly at this time of year when it's already dark do much of the time, if it is also blocking light as well.
I've lost my car on several occasions, including one some years ago when I parked in a completely new-to-me town ahead of a Red Arrows display. I'd got caught in traffic so was running (very) late - in a panic dashed in roughly the right direction having had to just park "somewhere" in the end. A local chap heading the same way pointed me where I needed to go, which was lovely, except it also meant that because I wasn't navigating on the way down into the town, I was then completely unable to retrace my steps on the way back... 45 minutes pf increasing panic later I finally managed to find a familiar landmark, which eventually got me back to the right rough area, and it was then a process of elimination. And THAT was when I discovered that the space I'd finally hurled the car at was residents parking only...I have never been so glad not to get a ticket! I now take a screenshot of my location in google maps when parking anywhere unfamiliar!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I hated the flapping and banging of the safety gates in the wind - mine was up last winter during the storms and I could feel the vibrations through the house. Worth it in the long run through. I'll need scaffolding on two walls when the next round of solar goes up (which I must chase about and get booked in. The sooner it goes up, the sooner I can get the benefit.4
