It's horrendous here too! I got up early, disturbed by the howling winds, took one look at the torrential rain through the curtains, found a pair of earbuds and then climbed back under the covers and listened to music until 9:30.4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! The weather was much more settled this morning, the usual places have flooded locally and as always I am grateful that I live on a slight hill, in a mostly flat county.
Eyes re-tested and a compromise prescription agreed. New lenses to be fitted FOC and I was brave and went for high quality varifocals in the second pair. I may regret this because I don't like change.
A spendy couple of days - mostly on discounted pet food. Haven't had a SM delivery (because of the drive being full of vans and a skip unpredictably) and we are starting to run low on some key things.

We actually had sunshine today! ...but the residual effects of the storm meant no trains until noon, so I avoided the commute into the city!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! My mum was talking to my uncle about varifocals at the weekend. She hated them to begin with and kept telling the optician she couldn't cope with them and was worried about falling down the stairs. Then one day she realised that she was using them without thinking about it.4

Mr KK has varifocals and recently had new glasses / his prescription updated. Apparently you feel a bit drunk to start with 😉 and he deliberately doesn’t use them on a day when he needs to drive, to start with. He tends to leave it c. three years between ‘updates’ so he focuses (sorry! 😂) on the significant improvements in his ability to see for the first few days as an incentive to persist with them.KKAs at 15.07.25:
- When bought house £315,995 mortgage debt and end date at start = October 2039 - now £233,521
- OPs to mortgage = £11,816 Interest saved £5,28 to date
Fixed rate 3.85% ends January 2030

I have always resisted the idea, but Mr Redo said his varifocals were great (once he got used to them) so I will give them a go. Still have distance ones for driving. I don't pick them up until next week.
Updates:
His current account money (his ISA) arrived in my account mid- morning hurrah, no probate required. Shifted to an interest earning account already.
Pension 4 have confirmed what is happening and that the money should arrive with me late next week. They hadn't actually sold the funds, unlike Pension3 who did it the day I sent the certificate through (ten working days to sell apparently) - so lets hope there is no major crash this week.
Food shopping this morning, and picked up a veg box from MrL. Nice range of stuff in reasonable condition, complete with 11 avocados. I had the ripest one with lunch, and will freeze the rest if need be.My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

When my father died my mother (well my sister really) didn't need probate but they both completely forgot one thing. 13 years later when as POAs we needed to sell the house our father's name was still on the deeds with hers. This wiould not have been any sort of problem normally but his death cert was in Portuguese. I only mention this because I don't recollect you mentioning it (sorry if you have).

Thanks, well spotted @badmemory, the very helpful probate solicitor said I needed to do a DJP form and send with a death certificate but I hadn't actually done anything about it yet, so I have just printed a copy, went and found our copy of the title for the number, and put the DC that came back yesterday with it ready to post when I am out tomorrow. One job off the long list.My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

redo it may be worth taking advice about the house title - there is no pressing reason for changing anything in terms of the ownership, and with a straightforward situation like you have, the change at time of selling is simply part of the process and won't cause any issues. Just a thought.
