Who had 'when we least expected it' for the next round of power cuts? It's been flicking on and off every few minutes so I have turned it off at the main box before it breaks anything. Most annoying. No contact about the compensation either.

I can't believe the power is off again! I've not had a power cut in years. Is it because you're remote?
Glad you sorted little kitty out. My little furball had a thorn in his paw last night from yesterday's walk. DD found it because he wouldn't stop licking it! He's still hobbling a bit today.

Thanks - the power came back on fairly quickly this time.
The kitten is back to full of bounce and activity. I'm just having a break from tidying so we can play kill the feathers on a stick at top speed. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Kittens are like children. Their boredom threshold is MUCH higher than yours. Enjoy playing5

Nothing quite like Gingers @beanielou.
today was not a good day. This is just the year that keeps on giving. Started off with the job (that I actually quite liked 🙃) going after the company sale, followed by the loss of my precious, my beloved Mrs Brady. Losing Mr Redo, obviously traumatic. Today followed up with the necessary, kind, right thing to do letting go of our 14 yo collie. Not looking for sympathy, but highlighting to anyone else who didn't know, there are vets who specialise in final, kind, gentle, in home exits. He was asleep when the nice vet arrived, who confirmed that it was time, and who gently and kindly assisted him into his final sleep while I held his paw. Horrible job but I thought it was something Mr Redo would have wanted me to do. Expensive but the kindest way as he hated car travel.
please no sympathy on this one. I'm not a dog person but I did the right thing by the Collie and I am bending over backwards to be Mr Redo for his beloved lurcher who is now sleeping with me because I'm such a soft touch. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Thanks for the info on the vet specialist, miss giddychops hates travelling in the car.
