Well done on the clothes sorting. I had to get professional help to get my done some years ago and at that point removed many many bin liners full. I now try to regularly thumb through items and consider if I will wear it again or if it is too tatty, even though now I mostly buy from a charity shop I still try to keep in mind her voice as I sort through.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!7 -
That sounds interesting @Watty1 - mine only go out by dribs and drabs and I've no idea what a professional declutterer would make of them! Did yours do the 'when did you last wear it?/does it fit/do you still like it/do you have another that fills the same role?' approach?I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

My sorting was relatively simple as some years back I did a couple of online courses with a lovely lady (who wrote this book - free to borrow on KU) which I found incredibly helpful. I thinned my wardrobe down at that time to what I like and that I feel suits me, ruthlessly got rid of anything that didn't fit that criteria, bought things that worked with that and everything was going nicely until I started putting weight on. I refused to spend lots of money on bigger clothes and a bit of 'if it fits then it'll do' crept in - that is the stuff that has now left the building. I also thought about what my day to day life is now, the work clothes I may need if I do some interim or part time stuff, and I kept a couple of event dresses just in case.
(purely an aside, my computer screen says 'rain/snow ahead' - of course it will rain for the bank holiday but I hope not snow!)My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

As to the BH weekend - we have friends coming. So the weather is due to break and the garden path replacement won't be finished till Monday.I think I will suggest board games in front of a roaring fire.

I've been pretty good at sorting out my clothes - I'm a Kondo convert as well - her organisational methods has certainly made my life a lot easier. I also store away my out of season clothes and shoes - which actually makes a lot of sense for me as I don't have loads of wardrobe space!
