Thank you everyone - we did indeed have a good weekend. The weather couldn't have been better, the scenery was glorious and the company was positive and appreciative.
We did two trips up the big hill, one the long way round with family and friends on Saturday, and then randomly DS1 and I decided to do it again on Sunday night (up the steep tourist route with many steps) by moonlight. I can see why it was his favourite place, and why my Mum had been so many times too. My legs are quite sore but my step count is excellent. Our cottage was part way down the trail so we all stopped for a glass of champagne in his memory. We had had those bottles saved for a special occasion so it was good to share them with the family. It was a rather spendy weekend, as I knew it would be when I planned it. A far more him memorial than any funeral could have been so it was worth it. Added bonus that I haven't cooked since Wednesday. And we have a cheese mountain so DS1 is happy.I did nip to MrM when we got back yesterday for F&V. They really have gone downhill lately, expensive and badly looked after. £28 of points if I spend £70 a week for 4 weeks, no chance. I only go because I like the gardening section, and even that seems more expensive this year. The sun is shining although it's not very warm. I have lots of things to plant and ideas for sorting the patio so a positive keep myself busy day for me. I did notice that the bare root peonies are pushing through the compost in the big pots so they are off to a good start. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Your time away sounds lovely, and a very good use of the champagne. And the moonlit walk - very Wordsworth! What a memory to have in honour of Mr Redo.
The cheese mountain sounds fun. I wonder how many steps you will get in as you conquer it?I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
