Do invest in a jet washer thingy - I promise you they’re really easy to set up and use and apart from blasting all the green stuff away it’s good fun and very therapeutic. My husband did keep warning me to look out for passing dog walkers but I was so wet, soggy and dirty I kind of didn’t care!Tilly Tidying andPADing in 2024 £250.62

DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

You would be able to identify me as the idiot poking something in the end to see why it wasn't working and then getting soaked. We had an elderly tiny Karcher which should still be in the garage, and it would be useful if it still works. Will have a look when I get a minute, I bet DS1 knows how to use it, and if he doesn't the SS will next time they visit.
I haven't even been in the garage today as I was cleaning the ground floor and scrubbing the cloakroom etc ahead of the plumber visiting tomorrow to fix the blasted toilet again. Shame because the sun was shining, and I wanted very much to play in the garden. I shall be most cross if it rains after he has gone tomorrow. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

I love the thought of getting a personal visit from the SS to set up the Karcher.
I assume you mean the SS?I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Find a you tube video on setting it up. They are fun to use, I miss mine (PPH took it along with the industrial one we bought at a farm auction. No idea why he had to take both but thats a PPH for you! ).Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!7 -
LOL Cherryfudge, the step sons who are very nice and happy to help but both have homes and families of their own.
Jwil, lovely blue skies - still frosty at the moment but by the time the plumber has finished things should have warmed up
Watty, thanks, will look on you tube. We had a huge industrial noisy petrol powered one (now gifted to SS1 with the motorhome, but too big to fit in a car) which put me off them, but this is one of the little yellow electric ones so I am sure it is simple enough.
Once the plumber is done I need to dash into town (we are completely out of PPs favourite biscuits! Outrage! Despair!) and then I can play in the garden. I have three honeysuckles, three roses, some hosta, and some peonies to plant. Hopefully the polytunnel compost isn't frozen. Four more raised beds to do but still a bit sore from Fridays efforts. I will need more compost, and some bark for the paths but the nice man put them in the car for me, and DS1 will remove them from the car.My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Our jet wash is just a little simple Bosch one you basically “plug into” the hosepipe from the garden tap. It scared me to death when we first bought it but now my husband is ageing I need to learn these “skills” which are really quite simple. Today I actually made up a flat pack garden storage box too! All inspired by the lovely garden ladies here.Tilly Tidying andPADing in 2024 £250.62

I have had to learn how to make flat pack things too Sallyforth, my fellow residents are willing to help but they wont always be here, and they never do things to my timescales.
The dash round for emergency cat treats also resulted in three pots of lovely in bloom snakehead fritillaries - one of my favourite bulbs because of the chequered patterns. I do have a few planted here but no signs of them yet, perhaps too early. Last year they did really well and I left them to self seed.
The sun is shining, lots of windows open (hope I can close the broken ones!) and I just need to identify something nice and gentle to do in the garden. Once the vampires appear I will seek their assistance to move various things rather than struggling and making my joints worse. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese
