I will be back to the reality of frugality and MrL tomorrow KeeponKnitting, although I could take a short detour as I head back to the M6.
It hasn't actually been a huge spend coming away, £80 in fuel, plus the booths fritter being more than I would normally spend feeding me. The cottage belongs to a relative who wouldn't even let me pay for the cleaning because I was here for the oven to be changed. I have done some deep cleaning while I was waiting in and a bit of gardening so I feel like I did something in exchange at least.Pension 2 paid today so I have shuffled some money round.I need to have breakfast, take Doglet for a last walk on the marsh, pack the last bits before leaving the cottage tidy and head home.My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Even your description of your time away was soothing redo - I was very nearly (knitting) in front of that woodstove alongside ya on the sofa 😁
Aren't B00ths the stores that have the 'puntastic' shopping bags - can't remember if that has been brought up here before? Morecambe & Pies - is that one? Anyway, I had a quick squint at their website to check I wasn't barking.... up the wrong tree, but got distracted by their recipe for Rhubarb Jam Hooch - isn't tmv always looking for additional ways to use rhubarb?? 🤣

Yes GP you are right on the bags, nice big strong cotton ones. I bought a couple last time, including 'morecambe and pies'. 'Over the hills and Chardonnay' was another. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

We got one of those bags last time we visited the lakes ‘I predict a fry-up’. Love booths, love the lakes wish we could afford to live there. I’m thinking about doing a solo holiday too.
love 🐞

GP that looks fab, thanks for sharing.
I agree that your description of your break sounds very soothing Redo - I hope it was. Do love a Booths for a treaty food shop.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

I am quite jealous of the solitude although I understand it is bitter sweet xxx4

My other bag is 'much ado about stuffing'. I had forgotten the 'I predict a fry up' one @ladybird1106. Have you thought about where you might go for a solo stay?
The cats all predictably claim to have not been fed for many days, but only tiny tabby is clingy. She was very much his cat and has only decided I will have to do recently so I am doing big fusses for her. 'My' cat is off climbing a tree somewhere whilst doing her best Penelope Pitstop 'help help'.
@Spendywendywoo no more Beatle ear worms please, I had 'I'd like to be, beside the sea, in an octopuses garden, in the shade' stuck all of last week
It was a very soothing break away, a much needed spot of pause and silence instead of feeling that I should/must be doing stuff all of the time. I feel better for it and might actually be productive next week as a result. The dog on the other hand thinks we really need to lie on the sofa in front of the fire for just a few more days.
My last visit to the marsh this morning involved a fly by in formation from some pink footed geese. Lots of curlews and oyster catchers, but also some skylarks. Very different to the birds I hear and see here.My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

You’ve inspired me to the lakes, just stopping in a YHA for a couple of days, nice and cheap. Already planned a couple of low level walks. Just need to source some reading books now.Love 🐞
