I took my mum out for lunch yesterday for her birthday, she just wanted to go to M&S so nothing fancy 😀 she wanted to buy a new jumper so I put some money in her card and bought her her favourite lindor balls too. I woke up with a very painful left forearm and wrist yesterday and was actually unable to use my left hand at all, it’s a bit better today but it still hurts if I rotate my arm.Dad has got a place in a brand new nursing home that looks like a five star hotel. It’s the other side of the city for mum but only a nine minute drive so she can get to it in a taxi. I can get there on two buses but to be honest that would be the same with all the nursing homes in the city because I live on the edge and it’s not got very good transport links. When I eventually move I am going across the other side because it’s got a lot more transport options. I will miss the countryside which is on the edge of where I live but the area I have my eye on has a massive lovely park so that will make up for it. They are also planning on building 500 houses on the fields at the top of my road so it won’t be the same anymore. I don’t begrudge the housing being built because there is a desperate shortage but it will still be a bit sad. Dad hasn’t moved yet and we haven’t been given a date yet but hopefully it won’t take long. The finances just have to be sorted now and at £1550 a week it’s eye wateringly expensive. I think he will be self funded as well because he inherited a large amount of money from his brother, just as well really. My eldest daughter works for the people who decide who gets funding so she is going to go over it with me on Wednesday.I havent done a lot today because I’ve not felt very good at all. I think being in town took it out of me yesterday but that’s how it is now, I can have one active day then I’m done in for a few days and can’t function properly. I really don’t know how I’m going to get back to work to be honest 😟 My gp says I’m not allowed any steroids until I’ve seen a Rheumatologist becasue she isn’t sure what’s wrong and doesn’t want them to mask my symptoms but I’m not sure how much longer I can go on with out any treatment whatsoever. I just hope they don’t fob me off and say it’s Fibro and there’s nothing they can do because whatever this is it’s not fibromyalgia, if that happens I won’t be able to work at all 😟 I’m not panicking about it though because there are benefits I can claim to add to my pension and while I would be on a very tight budget I would get by especially if I sell my house and buy a flat somewhere . I will just have to wait and see how it all pans out.Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1207

So sorry to hear about your dad. If this is end of life care, then you should ask about CHC funding. My dad got that just over 2 years ago as they said he had a very short time left. Nothing was mentioned about his finances as it is not means tested. The hospital arranged the funding we just had to find the home. He had it for 15 months then they stopped it because it was only meant to be for a short amount of time. He is self funding now but as things change it can be applied for.Aiming to make £7,500 online in 20225

I’m glad you’re not panicking about not being able to work. You need to live and be able to enjoy some things…..not just go to work for it to wipe you out completely until your next shift. Downsizing to a part of town where there are more transport links sounds perfect for you.The home your dad is going to sounds perfect for him.January spends - £587.584

Today I had to take the one of the cats to the vet and it’s not good news which I was expecting anyway😟he was diagnosed with kidney disease last year but has kept going quite well until a couple of weeks ago when I noticed he wasn’t eating properly. The vet did bloods today which show he has deteriorated and that coupled with a 20% loss of weight, not drinking or eating properly and sleeping all the time and his age of 18 paints a bad picture so we have made the decision to have him put to sleep😢 the vet is coming to my house on Wednesday when my eldest daughter can be here because he is her cat. The vet said he is going downhill and it would be better to let him go now rather than drag it out, I can’t tell if he is in pain or anything and I don’t want him to be suffering or for it to get so bad it turns into an emergency situation and I can’t control what happens to him. He is quite dehydrated but won’t even drink much of the cat milk he loves so it’s time to let him go sadlyOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1203

I'm very sorry to hear about the cat, it's always hard even if expected. It does sound as if he is preparing to go, but best to limit any suffering. Sending you hugs.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

So sorry to hear about your cat but you don't want him to suffer. You should be able to get the nursing home fees paid as it's continuous care from the hospital as it's end of life care. My mum had savings and her own home but we didn't have to pay the nursing home.3

Sorry to hear about the cat, definitely kinder to let him go but still very sad. What with your dog, cat, dad and your own health issues you must be sick and tired of it all.
Hopefully your parents won't have to pay for the care home.
Take care xI get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5 -
So sorry about your cat xx"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee2
