Just catching up after being away for a week. So sorry to hear about your dad and your cat. Hopefully your dad is being cared for properly now. My mum spent a lot of time in a nursing home at the end of her life....10 years actually. But because they had savings of less than £23K, it was all paid for and dad was allowed to continue living in the house and we didn't have to sell it. Hoping they sort out your dad's fees soon.Making the debt go down and savings go up

Hi everyone it’s been a bit of a rough week but I’m still plodding on. The vet came out to my house and the cat went very peacefully, it was so much better than having it done at the vet and I wish I had done that for B now. Our other little cat is a bit confused and is missing him but hopefully will be ok. He also has kidney disease but is not as far on as the other cat was.
Dads place at the home in our town fell through and he is now going to one tommorrow that is 16 miles away and a 40 minute bus journey 😢 I can’t get out there until Tuesday so will go then, it’s two buses for me to get there and no way of getting there in the evening so if anything happens we probably wont get there in time 😢 I went to see him in the hospital today and he can’t talk properly now but he did manage to crack a joke. He is quite obviously hallucinating as well. I haven’t been able to go an see him all week because I’ve had a bad cold that might have been Covid he got really excited when he saw me come round the corner ,it broke my heart 😢 I just want him to not be suffering anymore
Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1206 -
What a very hard time with your Dad's condition, can you set up a little emergency fund to cover a taxi if needed? Meanwhile take comfort in that you made him happy by arriving to see him.
You must be missing your cat and B, and it's hard to see the other cat confused at being without its companion. I do know what you mean about it being easier for them to go while at home where possible, though. I remember my Mum telling me how peacefully her cat passed, and that was also when the vet was able to go to the house.
I hope you get some rest tonight.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Hi everyone just popping to update that sadly Dad passed away yesterday afternoon before he was able to transferred to the nursing home. Also none of us were there which is not how I wanted it to happen but he fell asleep and simply didn’t wake up which is the best way to go I think 😢Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1205

Sorry to hear that obl. Sounds like moving would have been a huge stress for him. Try not to worry about no one being there, it appears some folks don't like to go when family are there and will wait till they are on their own. Glad he was able to share a joke with you last time you were in (or one of the last) Sending hugs through the ether to you all
