enthusiasticsaver said:We got rid of our bath as neither of us used it and got a large walk in shower. It was a boon after DHs open heart surgery as he could have a stool in there. We took the view we will not be moving from here unless we absolutely have to and it was worth the small downside of it being unappealing to some because of the lack of bath. The plumbing is there to put a bath in if someone wanted to. So for you I would think about how long you intend to stay in your current house. If you have no plans to move in the forseeable future then maybe make it work for you by having a larger shower and get rid of the bath if you think mobility issues may be a problem down the line.Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1202

We need to do our bathroom but want to keep our current bath as it's lovely and solid, and the new sizes don't seem to match ours as we've got a small bathroom and the bath takes up the full length. We want to get it re-enamelled as it's yellow.
We're just going to replace the toilet and sink and re-tile and floor, rather than rip everything out.
I think a lot of people do still like a bath, I'm not particularly one of them, but my DH would rather have a bath than a shower.Ours is the same with the shower at one end and taps at the other.
I never realised there were so many colours. They are coming back into fashion too ,so far I've seen pale blue and pale pink 😀Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1201 -
Do what’s best for you as you are now. If you don’t use the bath and would prefer a walk in shower get one. If you end up selling and the purchasers want a bath they could re-install one. As much as I love a good soak in the bath it wouldn’t put me off if I wanted to buy a house that didn’t have one. We’ve made a lot of improvements to our house over the past few years and they are to suit us not potential buyers.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)3

I have been reading jwils diary and have been amazed and inspired by her PADs so I'm going to have a go myself. I've just rounded down my current account and sent £5 to my savings account that I use for presents and Christmas. I've also set up the banking app on my phone and there is a thing on there that rounds up your change and sends it to your savings so I've set that up as well 😊I'm not sure if the money will stay in there for that use or if I will use it for debt as it's likely to not be a lot each day.
I also rent my garage out to my nephew for £32 a month and that money usually just gets swallowed up in the day to day spending . I've decided this has to stop so that's going to be put towards my debt. I'm going to add £18 a month so I can pay £50 a month of my debt. My mum still gives me money as well ( I'm still arguing with her about this but not getting anywhere ) so I'm going to use that to make ad hoc payments to my debt.
I need to get on top of my budget, savings and debt payments as I've kind of took my foot off the peddle in the last 6 months. I did borrow money from my lump sum but have paid that back. This month I haven't saved anything because I had to pay to get the gutters cleaned and I've got to pay for the boiler service but once that's paid for I can start saving again. I've got this months council tax money that can go towards the boiler service so that's good timing. Last year it was £120 so I might even have enough because my council tax is £145 🤞🤞Im glad the service will be due every February because I will be able to do the same next year.Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1203 -
That’s a good idea using the rent money specifically towards debt repayment. I’ve ended up with multiple accounts so I have 1 where my job 1 money is paid, one where my Job 2 money is paid and one whereby the money for th e mortgage is transferred to and comes out from. Then I know that the mortgage money is ready to go each month. I find I pay for certain things with my Job 1 money and other things specifically with job 2 money.

Starting afresh.
You can do anything if you put your mind to it. x1 -
Good luck with the PADs! It's a really good idea to allocate the garage money for something. It's so easy for additional money to get swallowed up by day to day spending, so I try and send it over straight away so I don't miss it. If it's a tight month, I can always keep it, but most times I don't miss it.
I think you should do your bathroom to however you want it unless you plan on moving in the very short term. If you did sell, then there's every chance a new buyer would want to change things anyway."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". B is very up and down and I really don't know what to do with her. I have decided today that I'm going to phone the vet tomorrow to try and get her in for either Tuesday or Thursday then I can hopefully get a fresh urine sample to take. I'm also going to request some bloods because I think she has a kidney problem. She has wet her bed twice this week and I always said that that was my limit. I don't think it's fair to keep them going if they have become incontinent. She has been incontinent while awake for months it that's manageable as she will go on a puppy pad but now she is weeing in her sleep overnight. I've had to bath her twice this week and she hates it,she shakes and gets very upset. So vets this week to check for underlying reasons then to see if there is any treatment. She was very perky when I got home today and was running ( slowly and stiffly ) round the living room so she is still showing some zest for life she actually wagged her tail and she hasn't done that for weeksOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1204 -
