debtfreewannabe321 said:Hi I have just read through your diary, just thought I would add my thoughts on the SMOL vs the ecover. I used to use Ecover and buy in bulk on amazon. It was hard to find a place for it all in my kitchen though. I swapped over to smol on recommendation from a friend and I bought their dishwasher tablets and also their kitchen cleaner. Both good. I got an email last month asking if I wanted to sign up for free trials on some other bits, you basically pay postage and get trials on most things on their website. I have their washing up liquid, laundry tablets and bathroom spray now on top of the kitchen cleaner. All really good products that smell nice too. And it's all delivered to your door on subscription
Thoughts on your mum and dad, are there any services that offer 'friendly chats' type home visits. I remember a few years ago I nearly signed up to volunteer to do this. It was offering up your time for free to go and sit with the elderly and do small jobs for them. I wonder if it is nationwide? I don't recall the name of the local charity though sorry...but I thought it was a good idea. My nan was a nurse in her career. She also wouldn't accept help into the house to care for my grandad even though she was physically incapable of doing it at the end of his life. I think she would have accepted someone coming in for a chat though (all are DBS checked).
Ive spoken to them about a person to come in and sit and the answer was no 😟Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1203 -
I really need to go out because I've run out of paracetamol but I don't want to go anywhere 😀 I was going to go into town and buy some along with some bits of food shopping but I don't really need anything. I even looked at Bs stash but she hasn't got any either ( desperate times when you are raiding the dogs medicine box 😂) . I will have to have a slow walk down to the shop later, Im sure it will do me good but it's cold and my house is cosy 😀
Ive got my towels washed this morning and now have a dark load in the machine. The ecover washing liquid and conditioner smells really nice and not overpowering. My poor body can't cope with all these smelly products that people use in their machines. I've also had to run the hoover round because the cats have been fighting so there was fluff all over the floor. B had a good night last night and didn't do a wee overnight which is unheard of nowadays. She was very unsettled yesterday with lots of pacing around but I realised I forgot to give her her paracetamol so she has had some today and is much more relaxed. She has half a tablet a day so I need to get some ore for her for tomorrow
I am making a leek croustade for tea so that will feed me for four days. I haven't made it for ages so I'm looking forward to it.
I am also going to check my bank later to see how the finances are doing . I've paid for the gutters to be cleaned from the money that was spare after all my bills were paid. I strangely don't want to spend any of my lump sum that is left which is weird 😀I had spent some of it on the vet bill but i had to pay that back because I was panicking about sending it. I'm going to have to use some of it to pay for the radiators though. I need to get properly organised again with allocating money to different pots because that all went by the wayside last year. I completely lost my budgeting mojo towards the end of the year so that needs to be addressed ASAPOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1205 -
That situation with your parents must be extremely difficult, especially when you can see objectively what's going on. Rant away if it helps!
I know what you mean about not spending the lump sum. I'm like that with what I inherited. Even though I could live off it for now, I'd rather get by one my small income. That's partly because I thought I'd use it when I retire, which wasn't supposed to happen yet. I'm making a distinction between everyday expenses (out of our pay) and special things (out of the inheritance). Special things are Christmas presents and courses, so far.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
The sun's been out and I think I’m solar powered (Onebrokelady)

That's work done until Sunday. It was a bit hectic today because we were supposed to have three people in the clinic room but someone went sick so there was just the two of us. All the babies were screamers as well so it's also been very noisy 😀 Thursdays are really busy because there is a cardiac clinic all day and a blood clinic all day. The cardiac patients all have to have height, weight, BP, Sats, and an ECG done which takes time especially as today they were mostly babies who won't keep still. Obviously bloods take time to do especially if you have to chase the child round the waiting room first 😀and we had two general clinics running at the same time who all have to be weighed and measured plus urine samples to be tested. We did manage to keep everything mostly on time but it was busy.

I left work and walked into town to get my bus even though it was chucking it down so with this mornings walk down to the station I've had a 45 minute walk today.
i had a portion of Leek Croustade in the fridge ready to heat up for my tea and I had been thinking about it all afternoon 😀I love getting home knowing there's something already made so I don't have to cook.
My left side of my body is being rubbish today as well so that's been annoying. My shoulder is still playing up and my hip has been throbbing all day. I think I'm going to have to speak to someone about painkillers because I'm not allowed to use ibuprofen and paracetamol isn't helping even with codeine. I'm not sure what else they can give me though 🤷♀️The last doctor I spoke to hasn't increased my antidepressants by double the amount to see of that helps but it hasn't made any difference. She said if that didn't work they would try a different one that works on nerve pain but you then have the difficulty of transferring from one to the other which won't happen without some side effects and withdrawal symptoms. Last time I came off these anti depressants I was really ill so I don't want to go through that again unless it's absolutely necessary. Thinking about ibuprofen I'm not sure if I can use the gel instead of tablets. The tablets are affecting my breathing and making me wheezy but I'm not sure how much of the gel goes into your bloodstream 🤷♀️
Tomorrow im meeting my friend who I normally meet today. We are meeting at 10.30 though instead of12.30 so I will have to get up early 😳 I'm off to bed in a bit though and will be dosed up on painkillers so will hopefully sleep all night 🤞🤞

I'm not allowed ibuprofen but when I asked the doctor about the gel he said good idea, but my problem is with my stomach, so I guess it depends. Can you take co-codemol? You could try asking a pharmacist about both

It's a very soggy miserable day here today 🌧🌧 I walked into town and met my friends for coffee which was nice as there was a group of us this week so lots to catch up on. I then had to get some bits of shopping because I ran out of bread and dog food. I've started a dog food subscription on Amazon but the first delivery isn't until February the 20th so I've had to keep on buying it in town in the meantime. I don't want to keep doing this because I can't carry it.
I then went to get the bus home and I waited an hour for a flaming bus 😡 the other buses were all turning up as usual just not mine. This is the other reason I don't want to buy things in town because I would walk if I didn't have loads to carry. I think I'm going to have to seriously think about my shopping and see if it's worth doing an on line shop so I don't need to buy things in town..... and they wonder why high streets are becoming empty 😡🤷♀️
I'm going to have to get the hoover out in a minute because the cats have been fighting again while I was out so there's fluff everywhere. I don't know why they have started fighting again. They used to play fight when they were younger but this is proper fighting. All the animals are driving me mad at the moment as I feel like I'm constantly cleaning up behind them. I will miss them when they've gone but I won't miss the mess they make 😀Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1204 -

Right intelligent people on my diary what are your views on having a bath re enamelled as opposed to installing a new bath? The price is around £450.00 ish and I know I can get a new bath for much less than that but
My bath is large and the new ones are smaller so there would have to be adjustments made in the bathroom plus paying to have it fitted
It doesn't matter what size my bath is because I never have a bath only a shower and I am a shortarse anyway
It's wasteful getting rid of a bath that is perfectly ok but just needs repairing
My bathroom needs tiling and I need a new loo,the sink is fine but could do with new taps. Do I have a completely new bathroom or just repair the bath replace the loo and get the tiling done
Please don't suggest diy kits because I know they are rubbish. I could possibly retile the bathroom myself but the likelihood of that happening is zero 😀
I don't want to spend loads of money on a bathroom refit if I'm not staying here long term but the bathroom desperately needs doing and I can't make up my mind. I guess I should just get some quotesOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1201
