Your ex sounds like a real keeper - some people need a warning sign attached - his sounds like ‘will be expensive to run, ‘prone to inconsistency & it’s all about him) - my far too polite ‘won’t be sued’ version
I have actually tried once I am dating someone new now to gently ask after a few dates (& before I get involved) what their last relationship was like - however if they lie well ..
Glad you feeling betterDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

My ex deserves an oscar 🤣🙈. Best performance ever. So glad I watch from the safety of my own home now and don't get involved.

Gawdenbennettttt the opticians..... We are now on a payment plan for the two pairs of glasses DP needed!
He needed one for work, occupational glasses and one for every day use- veri-focals. He's chosen new designs! Very brave of him. Thankfully me and opticians assistant (whom I know) ganged up on DP to choose a nicer pair of glasses than he had. He always reaches for the same ones and there are better designs for his face shape so we managed to successfully sell him two pairs of new designs! How exciting! The ones nearest to his old pair are the veri-focals and the other pair for work. I could not believe the cost of the frames. Nevermind when they told us the cost of the lenses too! 😱
My friend said it worked out cheaper to take a plan out as you'd get 20% off then if we want to pay it all off we can. So that's what we did. With 20% off it was still over £500. Possibly closer to 6 I can't remember now. So we have another £23 payment to add to our growing DDs... DP is going to see what he claim back via work then we will see what's left after that.
I am praying my kids don't need glasses when they go for their check up on Saturday! Well...new ones I mean. They both wear them already.
I caught up with my friend as computer was loading and she was telling me about her having had another little boy aged 40 and how exhausting it was. It kinda makes me glad DP and I never had one when we first met I can't imagine running around after a little one like I used to be able to these days. I'm instead going to hold hope I get some grandkids that I get to look after when I choose to 🤣 ones that you can hand back lol.
Right with that shock over (the cost of glasses AND not realising my friend had had another baby up until today!) I'm home, and changed into comfier clothes and will try and get on with some jobs before my energy leaves me for the day as I'm still struggling with that a little.
Not a NSD but rather a spendy day 🤣 also went to H&B and picked up some pearl barley and broth mix (gf) on buy one get one half price. Not sure what to do with the broth - it's like a thick soup right? Do you add it to anything or just have on its own? Have to say I've never made it but thought I'd try it. Will have a search 🔎 on t'internet see what to do with it....MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. Hiya. If you are avoiding gluten you can’t have barley. It contains gluten!!3

Make sure you read the back of the broth mix - some of them need soaking overnight before you cook them. I am rubbish at that kind of forward planning. I've used it to bulk out basic soup or stew.My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Glad you found a good one (man)
on broth you can use it as a soup base so add noodles greens etc as in an Japanese soup dish (chicken as well but think you veggie?)
yes barley has gluten in it - I once had a terrible reaction to pearl barleyDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)

Hi @debtfreewannabe321 as nice as it is that DP has found some frames that are well suited in the opticians, when I get glasses, I get the same style frame from glasses website? and MSE sometimes do a promocode and you can get a pair with lenses for circa £25, and they look just as good as designer, they are not fitted but you can order two and get one tighter fitting then the other which means you should have one that fits and you will know what fitting to choose next time. £500 is too much! I know I can't afford it. I have sent them back before they processed them if you change your mind about it, even if they are processing they will stop and refund you. Just a thoughtXX2

Just catching up. Glad you are feeling better. Must admit a knowing smile at the ex - they lie so well - my ex kept it up for years - hey ho. And women fall for it, after all we did. Ah well, we both have nice ones now, possibly the universe making up for the past.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!0 -
