Watty's Awakening

Definitely WattyDog's ball, if anything they littered your garden and should be glad you're not fining them so generously call it evens 😁
Mrs Laurel Hedges might be glad of the heads up if you phrase it right in a comradely way and say you were looking up what else might grow there but looks like nothing likely under laurels so maybe best to keep it for privacy and security, she probably doesn't want dead plants either!

Our neighbour's youngest grandson on occaision looses balls over the fence, I don't know who is sadder, the little one or his dog. Said dog is a very hairy old labrador - with the most expressive eyes, who sits a the gate between us and makes the most pitiful sounds until I open the gate and hand over the ball. Gran tells them both off royally every time but they don't learn!

They don’t! Mr MV found his football while we were clearing up the other day and promptly reinflated it. Within two minutes he’d managed to knock it into the (freshly cleaned out) pond… he’s 41 🙄😂
Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Laughing about Mr MV.
WattyDog delighted you are all in agreement. The ball is "his" and he is not for sharing it.
Will WhatsApp Mrs Laurel Hedges and say something along the lines that nothing else will grow there and rather than look at dead plants all summer I'd be grateful if we could just hack it back to take the strength out of it. The thought of having to do that makes me really anxious (she is not the easiest of neighbours when not getting her own way) but I need to say something. Her side is hidden by her laurels mostly anyway.
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Cheering you on while you write that email - these things are never easy but better to say something than not.
I'm not a fan of laurels as there seem to be rather a lot round here and they lack subtlety - at least they do in these quantities. Mind you, I have an ongoing battle with ivy, too, apart from one plant that planted itself but has tiny, pretty leaves. Other plants are constantly trying to do a ground cover act in the corners of the garden, and there was one beast of a plant in my Mum's garden that actually got into her double glazing. The power of it was astounding.
I hope WattyDog is still enjoying the ball!

He is indeed @Cherryfudge although he could do with a rest. VNM encouraged him to lie down and rest yesterday evening while I cooked. All balls were hidden to encourage the rest 😊

April monthly round up:
No wins on PBS again - so hoping a big win is just over the horizon.
House Bills £613 plus £800 on fencing and a new gate as some idiot drove into the back gate. This was no mean feat as it is set back a good cars length from the road, I presume someone reversed into the drive to turn around and cracked the gate. It has been splinted for the last year but is now beginning to come apart.
Food £158. Incredibly low for me. Done by eating out of the freezer I want to defrost. Meals still good if perhaps not weather appropriate, last night was a sausage tray bake using Brussel sprouts which seemed hot on a warm summery evening, but, enjoyable. Still seems lots in there but am beginning to see the end. The carrot and curry supper was actually soup when defrosted 😀and there have been a few surprising finds!
Animals £668
Health/Self/Dental £2508 Reasonable given work done on teeth.
Car/Horsebox £700 (would have been so much more if I had to pay labour, VNM did the work. In fact possibly would have had to scrap my car given the amount of actual work required, so very grateful for his skills).
Cleaner £208 - separated out as this would be the first saving if I had more time and wanted to cut back
Self £246 - included my birthday tea party for girl friends.
Next month also promises to be a high spend month as I need to pay the labour bill for the fencing (fence posts etc have not actually arrived yet) and also need more dental work done and will need to buy hay in and need fertiliser etc for fields
One month I will get my spends down to the £2000 mark - and - start moving more into savings again. it will happen dear readers, it will happen. Just now need to focus on repairs, to self, house and land and vehicles!

I've just been watching Stinky gently nudging a ball away from himself and then pulling it back with a paw. Sometimes the ball gets away and he has to get up… and then drop and bounce it a bit…

Those of you with dogs, I did read somewhere that tennis balls are bad for their teeth. Something about the coating being very abrasive.

That's why tennis balls go back over the fence and Stinky has proper 'dog' balls which are plastic/rubber. And any tennis balls given as gifts are 'lost' as soon as I can do so politely.
