Watty's Awakening

1st May. The year marches on. £500 paid for a nutrient neutrality report today. As usual when I send money I briefly wonder if this will work out or would I have been better sending that to an ISA - but - I am committed to the project so seeing it through.
On the MSE front a free cup of tea when out yesterday as was at a cafe where I had a loyalty card and it was full. I always think those stamps are not going to be worth collecting - and then - I get a free drink and am just so happy with that.
A friend bought me breakfast today. I think her plan was I would take a saddle away for her as in a weak moment a couple of months ago I said I would help sell it, but today I simply said on reflection I think it is better you do that as you have two places people can view the saddle and both are central and on a great road network whereas I am beaten track and it is harder to get here. Plus she is retired and has time. I do not.
So free cup of tea in a cafe yesterday - and - I held a boundary today. All good.
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Very good on the boundary.

Well done on the cuppa and the boundary- and that genuinely sounds like it is a better idea for her to succeed with the sale so win-win
Completely get feeling like 'could this money be better spent saving for something else' but as long as you can afford it, you are learning really insightful skills, and while there's no reason to think this plan won't happen, if it doesn't and you want to buy a little land and maybe in future make a little money or adapt it to better suit you, all these inroads into knowledge about how it works and what these type of people need to see and hear will be so beneficial

Thank you Beanielou and PIP that is a lovely way to look at it. Plus I would always wonder, and this way I will know. It is just a long process.

Mixed day yesterday. Huge anxiety so vegged out on sofa, but, remembered to take the meds and then after that kicked in VNM and I decided to do a bit of gardening. His suggestion on the basis that I might feel better if the patio had its spring clean.
He made a start on the patio, I weeded one bed and then started weeding the paths assisted by WattyDog. A bird has nested in the bed I wanted to clear this year and replant so that will now have to wait. (The garden is much higher than the patio so the plant the bird has nested in is about 6 feet up from the patio but ground level with the garden).
Delighted to see some of my seeds from last year are surviving despite WattyDog and his toy rugby ball.
The children opposite had kicked their football into the garden. I was going to return it but WattyDog saw it and punctured it in less than 30 seconds. He is now delighted with his new toy and runs around shaking it furiously. VNM thinks we should replace - and checked the replacement cost (£20) I think as the children kicked it from their garden, over a road, and into ours it was a fair loss. (Had they asked for it back WattyDog and I would not have spotted it at the same time and both headed for it together - and - despite his bad back he got their first).

More weeding done ✔️ or should that be played a lot with WattyDog and only came in because he was so tired and falling over.
Mrs Laurel Hedges wants to rip out an ivy on the fence that separates us. I said fine but on reflection that is going to leave me with a lot of dead plants wound round a stock fence as ivy is the only thing that grows there under her laurels. So tomorrow I will have to speak to her. SighsMade it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

I’ve an ivy growing between ours and next door, part of the fence fell down last year, the bloke fixing it told us both to not touch the ivy as it’s the only thing holding the fence up !

I've also got ivy holding up four fence panels here! I made a start to rip it off my side as it's the neighbours and realised the fence (ours to replace) was loose and rotten and would fall out if I took that off. So it stayed/ survived to see another season 🤣.
I think the football clearly belongs to wattydog now. Same as any footballs that make their way into my garden. If no one knocks they get thrown behind the bush in a pile 🤣 I can't tell which garden at the back they're from and they're kids in at least three of the houses there so I'm not getting into trouble for throwing to the wrong one 🤭.

The ball is WattyDog's. If they wanted it back they should have got there before him… Stinky gets really cross when I throw next door's cockapoo's tennis balls back over the fence (no idea how so many of them end up in here) but that's because i know where they come from and he has plenty of his own (which are different). I'm not keen on tennis balls as he nibbles the fluff off them.

I knew a section of my garden needed attention when I found how decayed the tennis balls in the undergrowth had got! I threw them back for next door's spaniel but they may have been past recognition.
