Yes, 1 year full black - mourning - move to the next 6 months dark grey and purple could be worn to signify the period known as half mourning. Sadly not the best day yesterday. Charming Cob went back to the vet to have lameness further investigated. It seems he has a "wear and tear" type of damage to a ligament in a back leg which is why he now only really wants to walk, and, he has a thickening of the spinal processes at the top of his neck.
All this means that he now is retired to a life of gentle wandering around the lanes with me, but nothing more strenuous. I admit I sat and cried for most of the rest of the day even though I suspected this was going to be the conclusion and have suspect that for a while. Then book club in the evening where I possibly had a little too much wine given my headache this morning.
I adore Charming Cob, he really is the horse love of my life so he will be with me until this problems become to much for him.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!14 -
So sorry to hear about CC, you must be devastated. But you can still be with him and give him a wonderful retirement.

He won't mind being retired to a leisurely stroll. He and you, still have that special bond when you go out (and you need to greet him with positivity and pleasure, or he will know you are sad). I know you are grieving for what once was, but you do still have him, to enjoy your time togetherSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

I'm sorry. How lucky he is though to have a human who loves him that he can go on nice strolls with and enjoy seeing the sights and nibbling the nibbles5

Ah cc, sadly age will ensure we make concessions to ourselves, hopefully you'll both still have lots of gentler walks in all the seasons for many years to come.
