You are so right LOL The farmer has the brass! I paid him to take it and clear that area. I used to be able to get rid of it locally in smaller amounts but there was too much even to consider that this time. It cannot be sold so he just spreads it on fields or has a large area of his farm where he just dumps it. There is so much in this area that clearing it is a problem. Other places I have been it is possible to get rid of much in bags at the gate but not here!
I've just been for a walk with WattyDog and discovered that a retaining wall has come down in the field. I asked farmer as he was still here for advice and it looks like I'll need to have it rebuilt but "properly" this time rather than the single block part that was there before.
I'm now mulling over what to do because the retaining wall is at an area of the field that the wall should be holding back and behind it as a large area that I had thought out clearing and building a large storage shed on but, that was not in the immediate plans. However the wall will soon come down completely so I can either do a patch for now job or get quotes to move that job up the list.
Maybe my financial goals will not be met after all.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

I also got my tax filed and paid early - feels good when I think about it !Land ownership is next level of financial responsibility:)
glad you got fun on the 2025 horizon !DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Indeed that is true @PennysIntoPounds and I am realising just how expensive my life is when tracking expenditure carefully. Spoiler alert: I might just write up details at the end of the month.
Coffee with two friends yesterday, sort of counts as a business meeting as is a regular once a month get together of 5 of us who all work in the same profession but has morphed more into a friendship natter which is lovely then home to work and then off to a local police event as I am considering becoming an equine volunteer special (as far as I can see this means the times the Charming Cob and I go hacking we simply keep our eyes open and report anything relevant - well - we have our eyes open anyway so I thought it might be both interesting and fun and worthwhile). Interesting evening and I have sent a thank you note and put myself down for more formal details. This is something I thought about doing whilst with PPH but it never really went anywhere.
Then home for a glass of wine with the VNM who had been to tell his sister about their mum. (She has special needs and he was waiting for her favourite carer to be on duty with her so she had support if needed).
Finally to bed, promising myself I would get up early to work this morning only to be woken by WattyDog barking and the door bell as the shredded paper for the stables had arrived. We had slept through alarm and finally shuffled into work just now.
Someone remind me I am no longer in my early 30s and just cannot burn the candle at both ends and work full time!

Cat update: Well it seems so many of you were right and my fears were unfounded. Little Annie Cat has been adopted by someone who also has a Bengal cat and we have been sent a video of her on the sofa with the other cat and they are grooming each other and just batting paws and generally being adorable.
Clearly she is loved and happy. Really heart warming end to that little story.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
