Sad to hear about Charming Cob.  However, I do think both of you will make many more happy memories together albeit at a slower pace of life.

thank you.   So many of my hopes and dreams for the year felt dashed with the news but he is still with me, and, although we've talked about it together, not much as really changed for him.     He really is the horse love of my life, he is so special, and he and the others know that.   There will come a point where the leisurely ridden strolls will need to stop but for now we can still enjoy those and when we cannot we can sit in the sun and graze and read. I am lucky to have him.

So sorry to hear re CC - upside is a new horse soon and CC will be happy ambling along I am quite sure

Oh that’s hard to hear about CC, poor chap. And for you, the change is a big one.

As several people have said, you can still enjoy each other’s company and you can make life easier for him now you know where you stand.

Here’s to all the future gentle, companionable ambles though. There will be many great memories still to be made together.

Thank you all for your kind words.  The vet suggested an series of anti-inflammatory injections over the next few weeks and sent me the prescription so I will get those then take him back for that.   I honestly think this is more he wanted to offer something than a firm believe these will help, but, it is a chance I will take.  A colleague put me in touch with a Danish supplier of products to the horse market who is about to launch in the UK, and he is so confident his products will help he has offered me a three month supply, so I will try that and I will get him some chiropractic to see if that helps the neck.  

In my heart, I know these are things I am trying because if I do not I will always "wonder" if they would help him be comfortable but realistically his days of long woodland canters are over and instead he will potter around the fields and have cuddles of an evening.  

Today we were to do some jumping but now Most Handsome will have to step up and have a go.  Most Handsome is not that inclined to be sensible which is why I stopped jumping him. Today may be hair raising for many reasons.

I do not own a body protector. I may put this on the shopping list!   Most Handsome took three flying leaps over three tiny fences, which I did not enjoy (that is putting it mildly) and then decided to walk over everything because his rider clearly did not appreciate his skill level or his sense of humour.

Charming Cob watched and then came for a cuddle. I would easily have tackled bigger with Charming Cob and done well.

As it is I feel in need of a stiff drink and  nerves of steel to whizz Most Handsome around some fences (I will ask the Fell Pony's person - she is not a teenager but she is sensible and confident). Maybe if Most Handsome can be persuaded that the effort to do a jump no higher than 1 foot 6" is not equal to the effort to clear 4 foot 6" I will regain some confidence with him.  The person who came out said just keep doing it until he is bored, umm, Most Handsome makes his own fun if bored. Part of the time he refused to trot in favour of acting like a giraffe on a pogo stick.    I will however not give up, I have left everything up and will have another go on my own later in the week.  (hashtag having fun with horses goal)
