What a day. Spent half an hour looking for the horsebox key and then gave up only to find the VNM had put it away in my "key tin" which astounded me. Apparently I have a tin with all the keys in which I had forgotten as I only every pick up the pencil case with the barn keys in. How I forgot i have no idea but all the house key spares are safely stashed away in there. Clearly I need one thing for all the keys as having two options has addled my brain and of course I never use the key tin just the pencil case (where I put the horsebox keys).
Royal Mail have finally made it here with 4 days of business mail and the courier company that is supposed to do a daily pick up but hasn't been for 4 days failed again today. After a very tense conversation where I asked them for a AM pick up tomorrow as I have the referral dentist (at last) from tooth dramas earlier the parcels have all had to be driven to their depot as they could not agree an AM pick up was possible. The VNM has gone off with them in his car. He also mentioned perhaps he should work for me as he helps out a lot as he left. I had to laugh, bless him. He is returning for homemade beans and sausages (using up stuff) for dinner.
Bit worried about my memory to be honest. I was delivering a lecture today and I had completely forgotten the details of the research I was discussing. i was able to wing it but that and the keys is a bit troubling. It might just be because I have so much (too much?) on.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

I'm 99% sure the memory thing is just overload, @Watty1, and will resolve in calmer times. You are doing such a lot and juggling so many things as well as recovering from a bad time in your life - the brain is just cutting itself a little slack.
Mine improved when life calmed down.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

The keys thing is just habit and normal for brains to forget. The lecture details sound like tiredness and stretching yourself in lots of directions at the moment. Give yourself credit for how much your brain *is* doing, work-wise and emotionally, but also consider scheduling chill time whether you want it or not! Brains need recovery time just like bodies do when they've been worked hard7

Fabulous news about the course, may I ask what area it covers (I am actually looking at mine again finally)
Your brain pathways will get stronger the more you rehearse or do something so just practice a bit more, we all have moments of what was I saying
The food eat down sounds fun, I am doing something similar except I keep buying YS protein that keeps it topped up. I am newly in love with all beans so am making a bean stew/soup/refried/bean salad daily at present as a side instead of rice/bread/pasta etcDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

The memory blips usually happen when you haven’t been getting enough rest over a long period of time. Weighs more on your mind though when there are dementia diagnoses recently.
The lazy genius podcast has an episode on different types of rest you might find useful. Think its ep2586 -
Thanks everyone. It does make sense the brain is overloaded. I certainly feel that way. I'm going to look up that podcast that you suggest @WelshmansDaughter
The brain exhaustion does make sense. Most evenings I go to bed around 7.30 now and watch maybe an hours TV with the VNM who then gives the horse their late night hay as i am usually asleep by 8.30 He now stays over most of the time and turns the horses out before he lives so I can sleep on. If he is not here, I give the horses their late night hay just before going to sleep (this explains the hay in the bed). Even with a lot more sleep than I am used to I still struggle to get up and am really brain tired by the end of the day. I was asleep by 8.45 last night, dimly heard him say goodbye at 5 am (he is very quiet) but actually woke around 7.00 am I came into my office this morning to find some notes of things he had helpfully done, including moving the horsebox for me, all done whilst I was asleep.
@LadyWithAPlan the course is mainly on an aspect of my professional life, if I say anymore I could out myself as it is really a very niche market. I will ask PA to email out a reminder tomorrow to those on the "test list".
Few hours work this morning then I am off to the referral dentist for a discussion about "options" I will take the plan that the emergency dentist came up with and I am fully aware of what my own dentist thinks so it will be an interesting chance to discuss the options (my own dentist gave me a list of questions to ask along with my own)Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

The VNM is definitely a keeper. What a contrast to the ex. Hope the dental visit goes well.
