The podcast was great. Well worth a listen. It helped me clarify a lot of things, especially that I have not had much 'rest' since leaving my rental place where I had lovely down time. I loved that house for so many reasons, mainly the sense of peace that when I walked in of an evening little more could be done in my day so I did rest. I have been trying to get the same here and the podcast helped me realise why that was not working (errr the chaos of renovations would be one reason)
Here there is so much to do and yesterday I started to develop a plan that just might work. I have discussed it with the VNM (who really is a star as you all pointed out) over dinner last night. I had texted to say the traffic situation was awful and when i got home WattyDog had been walked, the horses were in and dinner was ready (I had sent the journey time in a text as my grumble as the M25 was shut and I had to go round the South Circular, never my favourite route). When I say dinner was ready he had cooked a stir fry mix of prawns, rice noodles and veg from the M/Chef box I had forgotten to cancel.
So many joys there, so many gratitudes. I am so blessed and to think how different it was a few years ago.
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

The very long journey time was worth it to see the referral dentist. £175 on the appointment and after x-rays and a really fancy 3 day full colour scan of my mouth (oh are my teeth really that yellowed?) we discussed the original dentists plan and he gave me his opinion. I now totally understand what my own dentist was saying about why a bridge in that place will neither work nor look appropriate (the quote for the work for the bridge was over £2500 so a great saving).
I also understand exactly what is needed to put an implant in another part of my mouth (I had not gone for that but we discussed anyway) and I am going to have that done in the new year (bone grafts etc needed but I understand and we discussed my fears and concerns etc). The referral dentist will do that, it seems he is a fan of my own dentist's work on gums and my dentist referred me to him so this is a good co-operation.
I am going to call my dentist today and pass on the outcome of yesterday and get an appointment to have the temporary crown replaced with a crown and that will be the end of the work the other dentist (who has I understand been 'let go' from the practice as he was not in keeping with the practice ethos) started. All in all really good visit despite the awful traffic encountered due to an accident that has probably caused a lot of heartache for those involved and their relatives so sent up a little prayer for them whilst muttering darkly about London buses and cyclists!.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Can you please clone VNM? ☺️
It sounds like the trip was worth it. The renovations will be too, and will make the house into the kind of sanctuary your rental was. Having said that, I’m having a break from trades and putting up with the other things for a bit!4 -
I laughed at the VNM Clone comment @greenbee He has been married twice but then my long relationship did not last so who knows. He is wonderful in my life and that is what matters right now.
I'm not surprised you are having a break from trades. It is exhausting - more finding and getting quotes in etc. I need an electrician to sort out why the tumble dryer socket is heating up, fix the outside lights and hang the ceiling light on the landing. I also need a host of other jobs done but for now I'd be happy if an electrician could be found!

Young Fellpony has gone off to a show with his human. I admit I am feeing envious. It is years since I have done a show, I miss that. Work is taking up way to much time so I am looking to resolve that.
Another 3 sign ups on course so I am now over my dream target and now worried about delivering it - but - this is all part of the "bigger picture" so I just have to hang in there for now and try not to be too envious of the Fellpony and his human's day out.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Sounds like a very productive time, in terms of dental work (and understanding) and podcast and sign ups and good progress for the Fell.
Regarding the house becoming a sanctuary, we had a lovely break at a farmhouse once and I was so impressed with how it was decorated and accessorised that I made notes. The aim is to make our place have some of the same vibe. A log burner and a big soft sofa went quite a long way in the right direction!I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
