  • Backstitch is so boring 😆 but I am nearly there. Should be finished this weekend, then wash, iron and frame! And onto the next project.

It looks amazing @Drawingaline. Well done for what seems like a quick finish. The BABS really makes it pop.
No TaDa’s this end but made a start on ‘A Year in the Life of’, which I’m planning to stitch a bit each month. I actually finished the whole box for January when we got back from the house.
The Aida and colours I didn’t have for the next projects also arrived from L@keside during the week so I can make a start on ‘the best is yet to come.’ I need to start a spreadsheet for my colours and find some way of storing my skeins so I don’t have to sit and look through them all before I start a new project.  There may have been another kit in there  :*  Enjoy your day all, hope you get some time to yourselves. DS is coming to stay for a few days so I will have some company during the week.

DAL, excellent finished stitch and framed already, i'm impressed :)

Charly, happy new project, i store my threads in 4 DMC storage boxes, it stores the full colour set, but dmc have since released 30+ new colours, they would still fit though. There are some lovely wooden storage chests available.

Good news, i have spent the weekend stitching Seascape and got loads done, latest update photo

Wow to all the photo's they are all quite beautiful.
Everyone is so quick, unfortunately I'm a very slow x-stitcher, sewer and knitter as I have a lot of pain in my lower thumbs, arthritis the Dr and x-rays confirmed a few years ago, but if I do small amounts at a time it isn't too bad and I can carry on doing the things I love. Funnily enough it doesn't affect my gardening as much 🙂
So I've finished the small home sweet home picture I've been doing and it's awaiting washing and going into a frame or onto a canvas. I never used a canvas before, has anybody else? As I'm not too sure, it was a cheap kit so I thought I could try the canvas out! I never tried putting photos on mse before and not too sure how to buy I will try before too long.

@nannygladys - for photos - in the line of symbols above this chat box we type in there is a picture frame with mountains and a sun as the picture - click on that and a drop down box appears. It says Insert an Image and goes on to say choose files (in a grey button) click on the choose files, another box comes up and gives you the option to use a photo in your photo library or to take the photo there and then or choose a file. I usually take the photo there and then. (Forgot to say click on the option you want).

When you have taken photo it says use photo and you click on that and give it a little bit of time and it will add your chosen photo to your post :)

I am using IPad but it should be very similar for other operating systems :)

Look forward to seeing your photos

    Great progress with Seascape @nmm
and thanks for the information about storage boxes. @nannygladys I’m sure you’ll be posting photos before you know it. It’s the process after all not the end product  :D

    Hi all,

Lovely finish @Drawingaline. You are so talented to frame your makes. I have done smaller pieces in the past but wimp out when doing gifts or larger projects. Talking of which, I’m collecting the Rudolf sampler from the framers tomorrow. Realised that they don’t open on Sundays, so I’m going late  afternoon following lunch in London with ex-work colleagues. It’s all go. Will combine the trip to the framers with a flying visit to Mum and DSis.

My crocheted squares slipover has progressed. I have joined the front squares and the back squares, and have sewn in the ends. I now need to join those two pieces together at the shoulders and down the sides and do the armholes, neckline and ribbed bottom, plus block it. I’m super nervous about this and will take it to Mum’s tomorrow for her to guide me (she may even do it for me if I ask her….) I’m just not very confident and don’t want to ruin it!

I’ve joined a couple of FB groups where people show their cross stitch makes and it’s making me yearn for a smaller project. I have miscounted some of Haberdashery Shop and need to either frog it or adjust it. Just so annoying and need to do it in the daylight which means the weekend, but that’s also the only time I get to do social stuff and the dreaded housework/food shop. Hmmmm.

Lovely progress on Seascape @nmm x

Hope to see more photos soon @nannygladys (and all!).

    Have a good weekend

    Coxy xx

  • Started 'when winter wanes' making good progress.  I have finished the cross stitch on the hedgehog piece, but haven't finished making it into a wall hanging so will wait and post a pic once that is done.

Well, here i go again!!  Some 40 years after buying this xstitch pattern.

I had no idea what to do, unusually for a crafty shop I got little help so started by drawing lines on the aida and instead of crosses I stitched 2 uprights.

It got abandoned after a while, then I learnt about cross stitch.  Eventually I decided to buy it again as a kit so I got all the threads and I started again, properly this time

I've dug it out, washed it, its on a frame and I have spent the last couple of days sorting threads and threading up needles.   54 individual symbols, 12 different colours for backstitching.   Of the 54, only 22 are 2 strands of a single colour, the others are1 strand of one colour and one strand of a second colour.  I definitely remember why I gave up the second attempt!   It just all took so long threading up to do 4 stitches then rethreading time after time.  I'm hoping having needles already set up is going to make it quicker.   I've loaded them onto a sheet stuck up on the wall so hopefully they will stay untangled and ill zip through getting it finished.   Light is going so tomorrow will be the first stitch once I work out how I was marking the chart so I know where I'm starting!
