i just gotta post here as im am absolutely fed up to the back teeth with acer, i have had 4 replacement laptops over a period of 7months and the most recent laptop is just sat in the desk drawer waiting for another battery, i have been on the phone to them continuoulsy trying to get all manner of build quality issues fixed, i am a pc workstation engineer by trade for the last 17years employed by a major blue chip organisation and i reckon the phone help is worthless and the build quality is very poor, i would of fixed the problems myself as i have some superglue left over from my phillips DVD player woes.
I just wouldnt bother.0 -

We sent it off again and it took them over a month to tell us it was irrepairable. They instructed the dealer we bought it from to issue a refund of the purchase price which we got quickly. A few days later we recieved a cheque from acer for the purchase price. This meant we'd been refunded twice!
Shortly after this we had a call from the dealer asking us to go and chose our new PC as acer had agreed to fund a replacement. We couldn't quite believe what was happening but went ahead with it. Sadly we had to chose an acer as a replacement as they wouldn't let us have a different brand.
A few weeks after this, Acer sent our original PC back. It had been fully repaired! (I sold this on ebay for £300)
So for our broken PC we got 2 refunds, a repair and a replacement! Sadly our replacement was short lived and died on us after about 6 months, I didn't push the issue, just bought a new laptop instead.
I would never buy another acer again, cheap and nasty rubbish!
i,m still here , anyone want to pipe up in defence of Acer after that story ??Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -
I have had my Acer laptop(upgraded to Vista and added an extra 1gb ram) now for just over a year and a half and never had any problems. There was a fault with my power cable but as I have their extended warranty they send me a new one witihin 2 days.
My dad also buys Acer laptops/desktops for his business and has never had a problem so Acer get my vote!"He's a maniac, maniac that's for sure,
He will kill your cat and nail him to the door"

Mine's been great since 2005. Even better now I've added some more RAM.
One problem with an intermittent power connection. Couriered away and back with a new motherboard in just over a week.Apparently I'm 10 years old on MSE. Happy birthday to me...etc0 -

Apart from the poster admitting to committing acts of fraud, I can see no problem with the post! I actually know of something similar happening with DELL.
As I said before, ALL manufacturers of cheap computers DON'T WANT TO KNOW when their products go wrong. It's just a fact of life these days.0 -
i've just had my dd acer sent in for a repair for a minor no fault of acers problem
it was picked up free of charge and returned repaired in under a week , again with no charge , i found the call centre reasonable and efficient .0
