That's a silly post...and you know it.0 -
erm how? You buy one decent laptop, may cost twice as much as the 'amazing' acer, you keep it for two years and you're in proffit. Also you have something that will probably resell for more and you won't have the hassle of reinstalling programs and transfering other files. Pretty sensible to me - but I think it's sensible not buying cheap rubbish like acer products.0

hi BS , its to do with work .. 2 yr in computer term is LONG TIME ! this will be my last post on this thread...0

yes 2 years is a long time but I doubt that you're buying a cheap laptop to do graphic design etc so it will have minimal impact especially as a decent spec'd say asus 2 years ago twice the price of a budget acer will still be comparible to a cheap acer of 6-9 months ago which by your standards you'd be scrapping round about now.0

I'm not saying it wouldn't but tight-git has ahd 4 computers in that time, roughly one every 6 months and a 2k computer will probably perform far better after 18months than a new £500 one.0

I have had an Acer laptop for almost a year now, with no problems at all. Decent build quality and spec for the money. Remember that virtually all laptops under £500 are made in China with the same stock parts - this even applies to so called top brand names. Dell's are made in Limerick, Ireland. ALL companies seem to have poor customer service these days, so I wouldn't hold out much hope of getting recompense from ANY of them. The only reason I chose Acer was that the main UK service centre is 15 miles away from home, so I can easily get it seen to if things do go wrong. But so far, there have been no problems.0

It'll depreciate faster if you buy a £2k laptop. It'll lose a lot more value than buying a £1k laptop for a year, selling it, and buying another £1k for another year and selling it.
Upgrading every 12-18 months is a good way to keep up to date. If you leave it longer the hardware becomes a little more dated and harder to sell, or you get less for it."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -
i,m just warning people of the problems i have had , and as long as there is free speech i will continue to exercise my right to highlight bad service where i find it. i'm giving people the right to make a informed choice from mine and other peoples experiance , not taking cheap pop shots because i don,t agree with something.instead of making these wild accusations against Acer.
do you think i would really spend time and effort to do this , unless i had a geniue reason to warn people of the service they can expect from Acer if there product goes wrong ?? no i have never worked for Acer , and from my 1000+ posts you can see i haven,t ever done anything like this before. Yes my laptop seemed great when it was working , no it was not Acer's fault it got stolen in thier care . but to be treated like the way they treated me , then i,m going to exercise my right to highlight it , and to warn others
Buy a Acer , don,t buy Acer , follow the advice of the people who have good things to say about the company or heed my and other's warnings it does not matter to me , does it . but you cannot stop me highlighting the diabolical service i have been subjected to by Acer's support company. yes a lot of companys do have poor service , and you know what , it's fair game to have it highlighted. we wouldn't have BBC watchdog if we couldn't , would we.
guess thats anthor Bump. how do you like them apples sco0ter ??? and i,m up to 1K in hits , if only half of 1% take my advice ...i'm paying them back in spades
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -

Dont understand that remark at all. EEERRMMM.. yes I do like apples???
Why are you saying that????no i have never worked for Acer , and from my 1000+ posts you can see i haven,t ever done anything like this before.
you havent reached 1000 posts yet...and i,m up to 1K in hits , if only half of 1% take my advice ...i'm paying them back in spades
But if people thinking about buying laptops in the sale see all the positive feedback on here for ACER then it might convert them away from whatever one they wanted to a better ACER one so you would actually have given ACER more business
Another bump for the good old ACER0
