Tackled my sewing room & bedroom today, whilst waiting for the garage to ring me to come & pick up my car - which didn't happen until 4pm! Two large bin-bags, one of fabric scraps suitable for quilting and one of felted jumpers that I'd been using to make festive gnomes, have already left the house via Freegle, a third bag (tiny scraps) will go to the Tip ASAP (which may not happen straight away, but I can find plenty more to go!) and a big bag of good clothing I just don't wear has been sorted out to go to the charity shops. There's still more to go; I've sorted through a pile of old newspapers & magazines with photos & articles mentioning my assorted offspring, clipped out the actual interesting bits and kept those, but the rest will be going to the Hedgehog Rescue, who always need newspaper. I'm halfway down a massive box of assorted embroidery threads, a handful of which I'll keep for visible mending projects, but the rest will go to the Scrapstore, hopefully on Thursday - they're not open tomorrow. The sewing room is still a complete mess but at least there's space to work in there now.
I still can't fit all my clothes into the available storage - one chest of drawers and about 3' of hanging rail, plus a couple of Kallax baskets for undies & nighties - so will try to reduce further, or find somewhere (but where, exactly?) to store out-of-season stuff. I'm not going to go as far as I once did and throw out anything I hadn't worn for 6 months; I ended up with hardly any winter clothes & had to rush out & buy some new!Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)24 -
A frog tackled today, some more papers gone and a little tidying up done. Feeling slightly more organised if still overwhelmed at how much catching up there is to do. Never mind, it is coming along.Decluttering Awards: 🏅🏅20

I had a big bag of jars ready for the jam and pickles I'm unlikely to make for months or years.. and when I do I, I will probably just use the jars I already have jam and pickles in right now.
10-ish jars. And a holey pair of socks. Won't be making jam in those either. Bin! (Recycling)Keep reading books!

Hi all, the snow has mostly melted but it is raining / sleeting now and it is freezing so not sure what it will be like in the morning. I have been quite busy today but more sorting than leaving the house. I was lucky enough to get a lovely pair of canvas trainers from OHs dsis and bil which prompted me to go over my shoes again, 3 pairs into the bin and 3 pairs into the cs bag. 2 pairs to be tried on when I am not wearing big thick wooly socks. I then looked at the rest of the stuff in the wardrobe and decided to give it another clean and rearrange how it is all stored. I have moved my t shirts into a draw which was empty so leaving more room for the jumpers and fleeces on the shelves. I have so many
. Anyhow the t shirt draw needs more work but they are in there. 1 was put in the cs rag bag as it was covered in fence paint. Why I was wearing a white t shirt when I was doing that I have no idea
. A belt has also gone into the cs bag. I hoovered the wardrobe out, it's a built in thing in an alcove and I have decided the inside could do with a lick of paint but that will wait for the warmer weather when I can have all the windows open. The moth things were replaced, I am a bit paranoid since the moth attack in 2020 when I opened my wardrobe after not going in it for about 4 months when I was shielding only to find my good cashmere cardigan with big holes in it. I have used my stock so I had to go online to order more
but I don't count these as clutter. I found 2 things for repair, pjs that need new elastic and a hand towel that has developed a hole. The hand towel I cut up for flannels as OH seems to use a clean one every day, but they need hemming so those jobs will be on my list for tomorrow. The gift bag was put away, the wrapping paper and a very battered shoe box was put in the recycling bin. Also 2 LDFPA and 2 loads done and on the maiden.
@Mrs SD, I quite enjoy cheerleading when I have the energy but I am afraid I don't have your stamina, I will never reach your wonderwoman level
@Brambling I too have a dream of the small bedroom being a craft room, it is currently a rodbut I will get there eventually
@Muddy_Walker, thanks for the tip, I do sometimes have a hot drink with lemon juice and honey which does help
@florianatwobob most of my garden survives on neglect. Plants are informed when they are put in " you have 2 choices, live or die, it's up to you"
. They get watered when it's very hot and dry and hacked back when they get too big
. I think because we are on clay over 4 ft deep with just about 9 inches of top soil the rhubarb is going to need more help
. I will think about a raised bed for it somewhere
@Moorviews you have prompted me to put my tea and coffee cupboard on my list for tomorrow. I dread to think what I will find at the back as I only seem to use the front row
Right off to bed now, hugs to anybody who would like one
92 - 94 shoes binned
95 moth things replaced and reordered
96 wrapping paper recycled
97 shoe box recycled
98 + 99 LDFPA
Take care everyone

Thank you for this challenge.......I decided on the 10 / 10 /10 per day and so far, so good. It means that I select a room and1) I throw away 10 items - this can also include general rubbish tissue, piece of paper, old letters etc2) Put 10 items in their rightful place.3) Find 10 unused items and give them to charity.I started in the office complete with my black bag to put 10 items in to either give to charity or sell on eBay as a part of my make £2024 in 2024 challenge and my white bag for 10 items of rubbish
.

1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks + a weekly Jettison Junk in January
2. Sort out sleep patterns - target bed by 2:00 a.m. & up by 9:00 a.m
3. Deal with mail & email on a daily basis
4. Don’t put it down, put it away + deal with mini tasks as soon as they are noticed e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
5. Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ using the acronym - I.R.I.S. (Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off) - One per quarter
6. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
Dinner was bacon, egg & chips. Wudupa. Tomorrow I will be slow cooking a piece of brisket in the oven - 6 to 7 hours 😬 I have completed a little more paperwork & finished knitting another scarf.

86 Kitchen detritus binned

GrannyKate, good luck munching your frogs & DS2’s frog 🍀 Once you have finished, I might just have to hire you to stand over me, encouraging me to make a proper start on my frogs 😉
ilovetea, loving the conversation about hedgehogs 😊
Absolutely brilliant decluttering thriftwizard 👏 More newspaper reading hedgehogs 😂 I hope you have been kinder than ilovetea & left the crosswords for the hedgehogs 😉 Hopefully you can find somewhere to store your out-of-season clothes 🤞 I imagine that trying to find winter clothes IN winter was nigh on impossible 😔 after all the high street shops would have been stocking swimming costumes & summer clothing 😉
Great work oceanspirit 👏 The more you can do, the more organised & less overwhelmed you will feel 😊
Great decluttering wishus 👏 That reminds I should go through my jars rather than keeping them for Justin 🙂
vulpix, that is so funny 😹 Hedgehogs demanding newspapers - a nationwide phenomenon 😊
Liverpool_Anne, please be very careful if you venture out tomorrow 🙏 Freezing weather after melting snow 🧊 or maybe you have a pair of ice skates 🤔 & are looking forward to skating to the shops 😉 What a lovely compliment ☺️ now I just have to translate my newly acquired “wonder woman” status into my decluttering & dealing with frogs 😅 Such excellent decluttering has earned you a medal 🏅 especially after being so unwell 👏 Are you sure I can’t tempt you to more cheerleading - you are so good at it 😉
Welcome aboard the EDT, Dizzycap 👋 10 / 10 / 10 per day is a great way to not only declutter but also to tidy 👏😊
