DS went back to school today (he was not happy about it) and DH is claiming he is ill, but is working. My sleep has been disrupted for too many days and so I'm struggling to sleep now and feel even worse! I might have to have to actually instigate a bedtime for myself to get back to a routine. At lunch I dragged DH to DD's room and we spent about 5-10 mins getting rid of some of her toys she doesn't play with. Probably more things to consider and haven't done books/puzzles, but that was enough for me. Everything already listed on Buy Nothing ready to be ejected. At least there is more going out than coming in as I picked up a lovely wooden dolls pushchair for DD earlier on Buy Nothing. Not much else getting done over here right now, although I really should get back to the digital decluttering. I'm just too tired to make decisions at the moment, so it'll have to wait.Digital:

1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks + a weekly Jettison Junk in January
2. Sort out sleep patterns - target bed by 2:00 a.m. & up by 9:00 a.m
3. Deal with mail & email on a daily basis
4. Don’t put it down, put it away + deal with mini tasks as soon as they are noticed e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
5. Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ using the acronym - I.R.I.S. (Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off) - One per quarter
6. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
Good afternoon on this not quite so chilly Tuesday. The sky is blue, the sun is shining, the temperature is 3C & I have my 1st cuppa 🙂 Only woke up at 12:30 but at least I had warmed up 😉
QueenJess, sorry to hear that DS was ill over the entire weekend 😔 Although pleased to hear that you delegated at least one task to DH 😉 which I hope he did with good grace 🤞 Some great decluttering even in your zombified state 👏 The kitchen sounds like it is coming along nicely 🙂
Brambling, DH does make lovely rock cakes 😊 We have discussed having a bake off 😉 as I have an HB Rock Buns recipe which we have enjoyed in the past 😉 Great decluttering in the kitchen - I hope you counted each item of plastic cutlery 😉 & good work chipping away at the financial paperwork frog 👏
Excellent decluttering Florafauna 👏 Shame about the mince pies but if no-one likes them, then no point in cluttering up your freezer 👏
Betharooni, sorry to hear that you were feeling rough over the weekend 😔 However, I am gratified to learn that you spent your time in the TLC Carriage crafting & clearing down the contents of your Sky planner 👏😊 Hopefully you spent a little more time in there yesterday (during any breaks) as you were working from home 🙏 & fingers crossed you will feel a lot better by Wednesday 🤞
TC77, sounds like DD2 is learning some good habits 😊 & is definitely trying harder - probably because she is starting to realise that looking after her own space requires at least some effort on her part 😉 Perhaps a visit next month to hand over the large pan & steamer & any other items she might have requested in the meantime 😊 Not that you would be checking up on her or anything 🙊 Hope that the cs bag was dropped off & that the multi-cooker was picked up 🤞
Liverpool_Anne, you had a busy Sunday 👏 whatever happened to a day of rest 😉 A lovely chatty post 😊 my favourite being your response to CMD79 “scraps of cardmaking paper I can relate to, I have a few things like that, and scraps of ribbon etc, you are not alone 😀 Some of it I blame on the fact I used to teach and we would get through loads of stuff like that making various things and now I am retired I am having a problem breaking the habit though I have cracked the yoghurt pots which now go into the recycling 😀 1 habit at a time 😀” I hope the 3rd attempt at your family meet up was successful 🤞
Lovely post StickyTheStickInsect 😊
Thanks for that weenancyinAmerica 👏 I have learnt something new 😊
Now, now Natty68 ‘wagging finger emoji’ Every box sorted out is another step towards a clutter free home & should be celebrated 👏 Sounds like a perfect weekend of re-charging your Life Batteries - watching the birds & napping 😊 Sorry to hear that it is taking so long to get your medical records transferred to your new doctor’s surgery 😔 😠 Fingers crossed that your Econsult goes well & that your meds are sorted asap 🤞
Fizz2015, sending positive vibes that you can get some proper assistance for your DD 🙂🤞
Dfw38, sorry to hear about your eldest DD 😔 Hopefully with all the shared experiences of your Declutterati family you can set the wheels in motion to get some assistance 🙏 & also get your DH on board 🙏 Wishing you success in filling bags 8 & 9 🤞
~FlowerPot~ thank you for sharing your experiences and expertise 😊
GrannyKate, thank you for the information re transferring medical records 👏 Good luck with munching on DS2’s frogs 🍀
A perfect place to stop for a while whilst I make another cuppa 😉

Might consider going to the TLC carriage now that I know it has a spa. Are bathing suits optional???

Day spent rearranging my wardrobe, culminating in 1 bin bag to throw and 2 for the charity shop. Actually found it more stressful than l thought it would. I will be dropping them off tomorrow before l get chance to change my mind. I can now see what l have instead of living in the first 2 inches of my clothes 😂Count down to retirement 202320

I managed to rehome/declutter 3 small bowls and a pot of white tigerbalm to a friend who needed them.

I have been using Google Photos to store my photos and I've deleted... 3822 photos today. Which is barely scratching the surface. But I have gained back 7GB of space on my Google Drive... eek!
In amongst the photos was photos of the last couple of houses I have lived in, and their various states of clutter. It was a nice reminder that I am making progress, however small it may seem. x❀ total debt at LBM 01/2023: £47,178.76 ❀ debt at highest point: £51,062.14 ❀❁ currently - £unknown ❁ emergency fund - £wiped out ❁⚜ £1600+ made on vinted since 2023 ⚜------------------------------------------------------------------------millenial hopecore at its finest ❧20 -
Decluttering a knitted tank top to a friend. She loves it and it's too big for me now so I'm passing it on with love19

@Liverpool_Anne - glad you finally got to enjoy your family meal!
@~FlowerPot~ - It’s very brave of you to start tackling the photos. I recently opened the cupboard to think about mine, saw how much there was and swiftly closed the door! I am not ready for that yet. I look forward to hearing about how you tackle the task. I am somewhat in agreement about grainy landscape photos though…
@Mrs_Salad_Dodger - what a wonderful family get together that sounds! It does get freezing on a motorcycle though so I am glad that you prioritised getting properly warmed up afterwards. I’m sorry that I couldn’t offer you some hot soup!@Brambling - a craft room will lovely to have once you have got everything sorted out. Definitely a good incentive for decluttering!
@vulpix - it’s really so nice to read your posts and think about how things might be here one day, although after a year on the thread my house is much better than it was.I had a tidy out of the tea and coffee cupboard. Binned some very out of date mint teabags, otherwise organised everything into fewer boxes and put four into the recycling. As I buy in multiples I also disposed of some extra packaging. I did an inventory of the fridge and freezer. Used some things up and planned other things into meals. Went shopping yesterday and stuck to a list, consequently it was quick and easy to put everything away. No one else will be happy with how spartan the fridge looks as they generally like to see a ready to eat buffet in there. There is still plenty of food in the house, though not necessarily instant.Off to read the rest of the thread now and catch up on the news.19
