  • Hi

When Setanta put their prices up I rang to cancel and was given 3 mths at £7.50 and when that was up I rang again and got another 3 mths at £6.50 which I am happy with.

If you want to ring and cancel the number for cancellations is 0191 501 5482

You will get through to Sunderland

just cancelled and then got offered 3 months at £5..... will cancel it once that runs out.

    Thanks for the info all
  • Rang Setanta today, after reading this thread, with the sole intention of getting my monthly payment reduced, under the pretense of wanting to cancel.

Rang the geographic number 0191 501 3482, which was answered straight away, and told the pleasant chap on the phone, i wanted to cancel my subscription. He there proceeded to verify my account and run through the details of the cancellation process. I was beginning to lose heart at this point that he was not going to offer me a reduced rate deal.

And then came those magic words "since you have been with us for a year now", and all my anxiety disappeared. he continued "I can offer you the package at just £5.50 a month for the next 3 months".

I ummed and aaahhhed for all of 3 seconds before agreeing to his invitation and was told a confirmation letter would be be sent.

All round good result for myself, saving £16.50 for the sake of a 2 minute phonecall, which is also free for myself.

I would reccommend anyone who doesn't really want to cancel, to do this and save yourself some money.

    Regards
  • Thanks for the 0191 501 5482 number, I got through straight away first time. The lady was very helpful and confirmed they had received my letter by recorded delivery and my e-mail and gave me a switch off date of 10/01/2008. They confirm that no more payments will be taken from my credit card.

The deal I should have been put on was 3 months free and free connection and after plenty of calls they acknowledged I should be refunded £14.99. Still no word on that but I was told I should call cs on 08712003322. Turns out they only deal with calls Monday-Friday 9am-5pm (the hours I'm at work).

Foolishly, I forgot to get a customer reference number that after all these months I have still never been given, so I called back and got this, and spoke to a very persistent chap trying to get me to stay. I stood by guns because I definately want to get off of this recurring payment scheme, but last grasp he did offer me the £5.50 deal, so stick with it guys!

I'll let you know if I ever see my £14.99 again...

yes! I do love this forum

Been on at DH to phone Setanta to see if we can get the subscription reduced for ages, but he's not done it. Just phoned up myself on the 0191 501 3482 number and I've been offered it for £6.50 for the next 3 months.

That'll ding dang do for me! :)

Following my initial post I rang up Setanta today to confirm my cancellation... and no surprises to find out they never received my letter asking for cancellation and stated they couldn't accept cancellation through email!! They said all letters have to be sent via recorded delivery and were adamant on this so beware when sending letters.

They said they would have to take my 30 day notice from today over the phone and I would be charged for this period... charming!! but strangely enough when I mentioned I intially signed via the £1 for 2 mnths offer they said no charges will be made and they will put my notice in from today!!

They then made me an offer for £5 a month for next 3 months so I accepted... happy days!!
I imagine you rang the o870 number, what dept did you choose on the first menu, i never seem to get through to speak to a person
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

    Hi,
I've just phoned them on the 0871 number and had to choose the subscribe to setanta option before i could get to speak to a human!
I was told there were no offers available until january if i waited unitl then they would ring me with an offer.
I said it didn't matter i wanted to cancel anyway, and i was offered it for £6.50 for 3 months, i was told this was just for me and not available to anyone else!!:rotfl:

  • I want to cancel Setanta (don't want a reduced rate as there's nothing I want to watch on it now) so do I just call the 0191 number mentioned above or do I need to email them also..?
If I need to email them, does anyone know the email address..? (I'm just being lazy as don't want to read the previous 20+ pages)

    Cheers,
    Max.
