In reply to your msg where you said that supervisors/managers go home at 5pm. This is absolutely a load of nonsese. The reason that i know this is because i work for setanta sports, and my managers/supervisors dont go home until about 9pm. I work in the cancellation dept and we close at 9pm. Secondly, the correct email address for cancelling is ::
requests@setanta.com and you still do have to give 30 days notice from your next billing date.
I dont want to be nasty to setanta sports, but the way that they operate is all wrong, the cust services are a load of s**t. They have not got a clue on how to do there job. Im not giving myself a big head or anything, but my group on the cancellations dept are bloody good at doing there job!!!!!
So please people give us a break when you come through to us, becuase its not our fault that you all have been misinformed/spoken rudely to or been hung up on. We are trying to help you all as best as we can.
Hope this doesnt fall on deaf ears when i say, but please consider what i have said.
Thanks

Well, I should have been cancelled by now. I spoke to Stephen at Setanta who assured me that I had one payment to make on August 31st, which was duly taken. So I then cancelled my direct debit.
But then the direct debit form came in the post from Setanta, which I duly ignored.
And today I got a phone call from Setanta asking me why I had cancelled. After giving my reasons, the guy checked my account and all was okay.
So why did I get an automated phone call asking me to phone Setanta subscriptions?
Truly a dreadful company.0 -
Just cancel the DD??
you pay in advance so if you cancel the DD im 110% sure they will ring you and thus not costing you a penny in phone calls to them! you may even get a few days free??? play these company's at there own game!
we all have to watch what we are spending but these company's just want our money0 -
I've always paid ahead by credit card for Setanta. In summer 07 I received a letter telling me to contact them to make a payment. This was probably because I had received a new credit card with new number etc. Having been a subscriber since Setanta started, I had no knowledge of 30 day notice to quit requirement so, as I decided not to renew my subscription I simply decided not to contact them, on the basis that if they didn't get the money they'd cancel the subscription. Couple of months later I got a flyer through the post asking me to 'come back' and have since had about half a dozen in total - surely yu can only ask someone to come back if they've left?? At no time did I ever get a call or letter from them telling me my subscription hadn't been cancelled.
Anyway, I've just received a letter from them seeking payment for this coming year and threatening debt collection action over last years payment. Made 2 calls to the customer services at which both employees said they couldn't understand what had happened and would have to call me back - but haven't of course.
I've sent an e-mail today to the customer services and copied it to all the senior managers addresses listed in other posts in this thread.
Ironic thing is that, now they've also got international football and premiership, I was thinking about re-subscribing!!!
I await their response with interest but, as far as I'm concerned, they're not due any money from me.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone on this site for this great info. I've been trying to cancel my subscription since the 15/10/08 and I want a full refund (I'll be lucky) My Setanta Sports 1 & 2 has never worked. They don't acknowledge any correspondence. I will not be dealing with Setanta again, extremely poor customer service.0

It's funny how you can never get through to setanta to cancel your subscription but if you owe them something they're never off the phone...0

Similar experiences here.
Took Setanta last year, but had to cancel, when other half lost her job, after being off ill (still in trial period) , phoned and it was canceled there and then.
Signed back up again this year, but recently whilst looking at the SPL live games coming up in the next 4 months, there was only one that had my team (and we were 3rd in the league at this time), and that was a home game that i could go to, and what with highlights being on the BBC website from Sunday 6pm, i felt the money i was paying for Setanta wasn't worth it.
I phoned to cancel, was given an email address, this was on Sunday 9th, requests@setanta.com was supposed to be an email just for the likes of cancellations, rather than the normal CS one.
After no reply by Tuesday night, i phoned again, and was given a postal address, i also sent another email saying how much their CS stinks, the letter was posted, recorded delivery on the Wednesday, this cost £1.08.
Letter signed for on the 15th, direct debit came out the bank on the 11th.
Direct debit, was closed after receipt that the letter was delivered, this was also explained in the last email and letter, that i had given my notice, and my months advanced payment had come out my bank, and i was closing my DD, as they weren't getting any more cash after that.
Phoned again, on Monday 24th, as i had got a letter from them, stating that my bank had notified them that the direct debit had been closed, and was told on the phone that they had received my 2 emails, and letter, so i assumed that my cancellation had been actioned.
Later the same night, i got an email, saying that they couldn't "process" my request, due to no payment info on my account!!
Sent back an email, to which i have had no reply to, stating, what part of 3 phone calls, 2 (3 including this one), and a recorded letter cant Setanta "process", and that i have requested for the account to be closed before my last payment came out the bank, and that it isn't the customers fault that Setanta has such a poor cancellation policy, that actually makes the customer out of pocket just to try and cancel their service, if Sky can take cancellations over the phone, then there is no reason why Setanta can't, especially, when they previously did!
Shoddy outfit, and one that i won't be subscribing to again.0
