Trying to cancel Setanta?!
Comments

Setanta's response, per the Mirror article, seems to miss the point, in my view.
The response to complaints that they have been "moving the goalposts to make it harder for people to quit" is that there will be "no mass exodus"!
A Setanta spokeswoman "stressed the firm would be showing some England matches during the summer". Indeed they are, but these are next season, starting with England -v- Czech Republic on 20th August 2008.
England's forthcoming matches against USA & Trinidad and Tobago are live on BBC One.0 -
I know this is a thread about cancelling Setanta but just wanted to share this. My mate rang up to cancel and they offered him Setanta for £4.99 for three months and said he could just ring up after the three months and do it again. I rang them and they have done this for me. The guy even told me what date to ring back on so he can do the next 3 months for £4.99.0

Bit of a heads up for you.Setanta Sports are preparing to hike up their subscription prices in the UK from June 1st 2008.
The changes are as follows:
For new customers:
Increase of £3 from £9.99 to £12.99 for monthly satellite subscribers
Increase of £1 from £9.99 to £10.99 for monthly freeview subscribers
Introduction of a standalone Setanta Sports 1 option on satellite at £10.99
Increase of £35.88 from £120 to £155.88 for annual satellite subscribers
Increase of £11.88 from £120 to £131.88 for annual freeview subscribers
The increased prices also apply to Racing UK subscriptions.
The above prices will also become applicable to existing UK subscribers from July 1st 2008, with notification being sent out by e-mail and letter to existing customers from June 1st 2008.
Customers already paying £15 on satellite or £10.99 on Freeview will not see any difference.
Setanta Sports are currently looking to expand the viewing hours of Setanta Sports 1 on Freeview to make a 24hr service parallel to the current Satellite hours as well as expanding to additional channels, while plans for an HD channel are still underway.
The price increase is to reflect Setanta Sports's aggressive acquisition of many sports broadcasting rights including the FA Cup, 2010 World Cup Qualifiers, Asia Cup, David Haye boxing, Top Rank boxing, UFC and other top sports events as well as yet to be announced contracts.
Spoke to someone called Christine at Customer Services today, and she confirmed it was true. Given Setanta's record of sending mail out, wouldn't surprise me if we don't receive them.
There aren't any changes to the subscription price for Irish customers either, which shows further favouritism towards their own.0 -
What is the address you need to write to cancel Setanta ?
I am not sending a letter to both addresses.0 -

Setanta Sports, Dept. 8544, Sunderland, Tyne & Wear, SR9 9XZ.
Send the letter 1st class recorded & that'll be £1.08.
They will ( at least according to their own T & C's) cancel your subscription 30 days from receiving your letter. Of course that means 1 final payment will be due in that period.
Good luck with it, hope you shake 'em off...!!!0 -

Or 2 final payments depending on your billing date.
A friend got stung with that one. He called to cancel on 29th and they said because his billing date was 28th he'd have another payment to come out THEN this final payment because of the 30 days notice.
They're absolute sharks!0
